I just need an app to open a mobile website

I am brand new and looking to simply make an app with our logo as the icon that will open the designated page. I also want to make sure that it does not cache the site so it will open to the most recent version and changes we have made. This may be simple, but I just started and could not initially figure it out and the plug in videos are not available right now.

is it just going to be your website but in an app? i dont know if they allow that on iOS or android? someone else here knows more than i do about it, but making your logo and a website in an app is easy to do, maybe you want more things in the app besides your website in it?

Welcome to BT. If you are looking to get an App like that into App Store you will struggle. Apple will tell you that your app is more suited as a web app. Android (google play) still take everything so you'll not have that trouble. That said, what you want to do us easily done.

Thank for the input...I am not looking to get it into an App Store. We just want a simple way for students who use the discounts on our website to get them on the go. We have an android app now with a QR code for the free app download, but nothing for i-phones. But the current version gives us trouble with cache...keeps loading the old site and leaving out updates.

OK. So no iphone plans, cool. Have you tried just adding the HTML code to force refresh?

If you submit an app that is just your website it will be rejected 99% sure of that. Unless you build screens into your app that can get the user involved. Good luck. Magic

Magic Man, Thank you...but I don't really want to submit it to anything. I just want to promote it to our customers. We just need a way for users to load our app....QR code or link on our site. Can we still do that without being accepted by app stores?

Hi, MacApple is correct in that there is no way such an app is going to make it through the Apple iTunes store. That being said, if you want to distribute an iPhone app, you'll have to do it via non-formal means. That means your users will have to jailbreak their phones in order to install your "app." Ultimately I doubt that would be worth it to them. Sounds like you already have an Android app? You can distribute a .apk any way you want...email, the web, FTP...and no app review is required. Android is easy like that. No good solution for Apple. You can create a web clip...that might work! For Android no problem, no app store required. Create app with one screen - Custom HTML doc Option #1 - Embed doc into app. Option #2 - Link via URL Have app not cache. Publish app. Finished. Fred

No plugin required. So don't worry about video. Fred A strongly recommend you watch the ones available.

I may have misunderstood, but I think that what you want is a shortcut icon installed on people's home screens so they may open your website at the touch of an icon. Your website should have a force refresh in its meta tags as well. If that is the case, here is how to do it: iPhone: http://www.icaew.com/en/adding-an-iphone-shortcut Android: http://www.smerret.com/computers/internet/google-tips-and-tricks/how-to-add-a-url-bookmark-icon-to-android-home-screen
