Experts of buzz touch, help with forms building and local saving?

Ok so I am fairly familiar with creating drop downs and sending forms. I am currently using the HTML screen provided kindly by the Buzztouch folk. I want to create a large form that requires information to be saved on the phone locally until completion. The people using the App won't be able to send the form immediately because 3G or Wifi won't be available. I also need the form to narrow options down as it is completed. (making it idiot proof, so workers cannot select an option that won't make sense.) Thank you in advance! Cheers Nick

How many will use the app? Is there a budget? Or do you need free? How many forms? Fred

If you're calling Google forms it should work as the doc and changes would be saved by Google. Question is how to call Google form. Fred

You should be able to go to the form in google docs and get the code to embed it. Add it to an html page on your app.

Might be too hard to do, not sure. This might be a better option. http://www.devicemagic.com/

Yes, that would work, but only for a custom app, only one person could use then money. Various solutions if you have a budget. Fred

There isn't really a budget, it's for a small-ish firm, the form at the moment engineers complete information on MOTs and test results on paper then snail mail this to the office where we use the power of excel to create reports i.e. workbook 1 to get all the info into correct fields (using drop down boxes to ensure accuracy) and work book 2 draws information from workbook one, does some calculations in some instances and puts it into a logical report which is then sent off to the customer. = This is a SLOW method! and create huge back log when the season peaks. It was my idea to pick some brains about making an app where the engineers could use iPads OR Android tabs out in the field and basically repeat the process used in excel so that a report could be emailed from them to be checked in the office and them emailed on to the customer. Cutting out all the donkey work repeated in the office! This is the idea anyway. It might be that its faster to have a template drawn up by a third party for the app and then the donkey work completed by me i.e. filling in all the drop downs? (there is a lot of information) Any thoughts?

How many users? How many submissions per month? Do you need both iOS and Android ? Fred

It would be 30 users (for now) around 150 submissions absolute would be tops! It varies per engineer. Either Android or iOS would suffice, sticking to one not both. Nick *edit 150 submissions per user, in reality it would probably max out at 100 per user.

yeah I've been playing around with the device magic, obviously its a doddle compared with creating an App, but its still leaves me stuck on getting the results from the submission into my report autonomously... Also it means that we can further the app into other areas, i.e. maybe having a manual on there for the engineers. The season doesn't start till October, is that enough time to create a custom App? **Side note: Could the Device magic App be used within a custom App as a screen?** Nick

Found it. Yes it could be used as a screen, maybe. Would need to look into their app a bit more. Fred

Just to wrap this up to anyone who might be following this thread in the future. I am using the Device Magic app to create the forms, sending them to a google docs page. luckily Device magic updates a single excel spreadsheet, so I am able to create another Sheet on the same document which has the report in its original format. The form from the device is then forwarded straight into Sheet 1 where it appears in sheet 2 with the correct formatting. Device Magic is a good option for form creating although it lacks functionality, so i'll use the API as a screen within an App made on Buzztouch, then giving the freedom and support to add rich content. Thank you to Fred@mySkylla com and Outbreak for there huge help. It is greatly appreciated! Over & Out.
