iOS questions

Trying to broaden my horizons and try out iOS :) Have 3 questions, though: 1) If you build in XCode 4.2 for Snow Leopard, which doesn't have the latest iOS SDK, when you open up for user testing will people with the latest SDK on their iPhone or iPad be able to participate? 2) When using BTv1.4, do people ever find that an app they've hardly changed is a lot bigger in the .app version that the .apk android version? 3) When using BT v1.5, should you delete large image files you don't end up using out of the the 'appname_v15-iOS' folder before submitting to iStore or does the xcode build only draw upon image files you specifically used in your app? Thanks in advance!

Hi @AppOneBeta, It should not be a problem. I have the same setup, and have not run into any issues or complaints at all. You won't be able to take advantage of all the latest features without the newest SDK, but what you have now should not prevent anybody from running your app. Mark

Thanks Mark! So I'm understanding that as can run on latest sdk devices once in the iStore, means Apple won't stop from running on latest SDK devices during user testing. Good! Note for others - Mark's responding to Q1 - I added 2 more just as he must have been posting :)

Howdy! (2) You'll find that .apk and .app versions will always be different sizes. Java vs. Objective C. (3) Xcode will package all the images/files that are in your Xcode project (no matter where they are on the disk). So, remove what you don't want from your Xcode project if you are looking to reduce the app size. But make sure you test it after you remove stuff! Mark

Really glad you told me that last one!!! Personally, I pass over unnecessarily large apps but it's because I'm running an oldish phone with tiny available memory... Cheers!

App had been waiting for review on itunes connect since friday - they say it's submitted but in the queue but hasn't been reviewed yet - Are submissions getting too high for them to manage? iOS bubble?

Takes them 5-7 days on average, for me, to get it reviewed. And that usually doesn't include weekends! Mark

Yes, and I guess it makes sense that most of the those 7 days would be the app 'waiting for review'.
