How do I find my DeviceID

Buzztouch merge field [deviceid] does not match the UDID or serial number of my iPad or iPhone. So where does Buzztouch get the data?

1. Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. 2. Select your your device in iTunes. Select the Summary tab. 3. Click on the Serial Number black label. It doesn’t look like something you can click on, unfortunately, making this more of a “hidden feature”. Serial Number will turn into Identifier (UDID). 4. Unfortunately this is another non-intuitive step. After you see Identifier (UDID) displayed, copy it to your OS clipboard with Ctrl-C (Windows) or Command-C (Mac). And here’s the subtle trick… Most people try to highlight the UDID - which is almost the universally recognized way to copy something - but for some reason Apple decided to make this unable to be selected. You can’t highlight it. Just hit Ctrl-C or Command-C on this screen and trust that it’s copied to your OS clipboard. Now open an email or a text editor and paste in the clipboard contents. You now have your iPhone device ID. Another option that does not require connecting to your computer is a free app in the app store. Search for 'Ad Hoc Helper' All the app does is allow you to email the UDID to yourself, which is probably much faster than using iTunes. http://www.skyscape.com/support/ShowFAQ.aspx?cid=3&kbid=31 I know this doesn't directly answer where BT gets it from, but hopefully this might lend in some sight until you figure it out - someone else responds. Thanks David. I am happy with how to get the serial number and UDID from iTunes. My problem is different... - I add a screen of type 'customURL' to my app, and then add the [deviceid] merge field, as per these instructions provided by Buzztouch: Include these merge-fields in the URL to capture device data [deviceId] A globally unique string value assigned to the device. - when I check my server logs, the [deviceid] sent by the customURL does not match the UDID of my device. - I can't see, or recognise, where Buzztouch is getting the [deviceid] merge field from...and therefore I'm unable to test for the specific device at my server end ???

mmm...unfortunately not. The device info screen type does not display [deviceid] merge data.

Doesn't help but here's Buzztouch's description: [deviceId] A globally unique string value assigned to the device. Fred
