API Key

Hey guys, I'm planning in the near future to self host my BT apps. I understand that to be able to download the app from the server I will need my API Key. My question is, while I don't have my API key, can I start building apps, and when I decide to go for it, add the API key, or does the API key need to be there first? Thanks

You can use the self hosted panel without the key ;-) In fact, lots of folks use it this way after understanding how it works. We're happy to see this and encourage you to learn all you can to extend the usefulness of the package. It's very flexible stuff if you understand PHP. a) Install the self-hosted package. b) Create some apps, tinker, explore c) Enter an API key when you're ready (or never at all if you can package apps on your own). Cheers and happy app building...

Thank you. If I did learn how to package my app, something I have no clue about how to, or even where to start searching, I'd feel it would be kind of a betrayal to buzz touch. I mean I know nothing about programing, I find buzz touch, I build apps, buzz touch lets me install their control panel on my own server, all free???? Although, for me, $30 a month is a bit, I'd still think it would feel wrong. Or am I seeing it in at a wrong angle? Cheers.

Nope, sounds like you're seeing it the right way. We appreciate your genuine willingness to support us and we'll happily let you when the time is right. In the meantime, get the self hosted package up-n-running and get as much learned as you can. From that point you can decide what the best approach is. Thanks again, your enthusiasm is refreshing.

I'd like to ask you another question regarding this, but don't wanna put ideas on other users minds. Can you private message me please? Thank you
