General Questions

I'm building a simple app for my company (~20 employees) and I'm new to BT. My questions are: 1. Do I have to publish it through the Apple App Store to distribute? 2. If I go via the Self Hosting route, do I still have the 3000 view limitation under the free account? Thanks!

Hi @ivanrm, Welcome to buzztouch! 1. You can have up to 100 "ad hoc" distributions of your app without going through the app store. Or, you can have your customers jailbreak their phones, and install it that way. But most sane people won't recommend that. 2. There is no view limitation if you go the self hosting route. Unlimited apps, unlimited screens, unlimited views. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. We're all in this together! Mark

iOS developer Account your Apps installed via Ad Hoc will only work for 3 months. If you're creating an app for use by employees only jailbreaking is feasible, but if the iDevice belongs to the employee it may not be advisable. Depends how tech do you wish to be. Fred

You can also join the iOS Developer Enterprise Program at a cost of $299/yr vs. the standard $99/yr https://developer.apple.com/programs/ios/enterprise/ "Gain access to resources that will help you develop proprietary, in-house iOS apps that you can distribute to employees or members of your organization"

I think you can run the app on up to 100 devices for up to 3 months on an AdHoc basis, during which time you can work on getting it in to the AppStore.

Thank you all for all the help! I think that route that I will take is doing the Self Hosting and then just distributing the app via the App Store. Thanks again!

You could always make the app super expensive, to discourage non-employees from buying it, and then distribute download codes for the actual employees. Good luck! Mark
