QA: Earlier i0S versions - simulator different than device

I am QAing my latest ios app; On my iPhone, I run 5.0 I have configured the app to run 3.0 and above. When I test it in the simulator, it shows off a version that I changed a few weeks ago. Example: the bottom tabs have been updated with unique tabs and the html background images are old. Is this how it will appear in the 3.0 and 4.0 versions? Any reason why it would appear fine on my phone, but not so on the simulator?

Did you update your config data, delete the app from SIM and do a clean and build?

Hey Friend - No, I have not taken those steps. Generally, with the other apps I have out there, I've just pushed them through after checking on my own device. Is there an easy procedure to do just that, as you recommend above? (note: This is on BT ver 1.5)

BT 1.5, yes. Grab the config data from your BT control panel and update it in Xcode, good practice to do this prior to final testing and submission. I would go ahead and delete the app from SIM and do the above once config is updated. You should then see the current version of your app. Sounds like the sim is displaying old cached data, that is all.

Sorry for the hand-holding-procedure.. I know how to walk, really. I got the URL/config data in BT Control Panel. Where would I update this in xcode? thanks again -

I deleted it from the SIM - still showing the old version. In xcode, do I need to adjust something in the BT_Config folder?

It will show old version until you update the config.txt file in Xcode under your project folders. You are going to drop in the config data you got from the control panel.

Thanks again - I saved the old config.txt file and replaced it with the one from the control panel. Odd: instead of showing old info, it didn't fully compile and the screen was black when I updated it. I'm almost compelled to upload as-is... I wonder if it would show up correctly like on my iphone (5.0) and incorrectly on the older devices..Or, if that would make it incorrectly on all devices.

I would never submit if not 100% certain. A week is a long time to wait. So where are we then? Does it run on your device / sim / iPad sim?

4.1: Beautiful black screen... error code... perhaps I should release it just for 5.0.. Looks like the ads are messing it up in the earlier versions.

I believe I might have found my error in duplicate image files - I hope this may be the case and is easily altered.

Hmm. Releasing for just 5.0 excludes a lot of users believe it or not.

I'm sure it does - on to the next try... Just Like Don Quixote said to his trusty sidekick Pancho, "recompile!"

Four hours later...the plot thickens... >>Upload Received Rookie mistakes & errors w/iad... not sure what the deal was,but I removed all the iads in the project and the errors went away. It checked out in SIM for earlier versions. MacApple - for your gracious walk-thru, I owe you a beer. I'll letcha know when I hear from the folks in Cali!
