iOS or Android

Hi guys, I've basically finished my app on Android, approx 73 screens- mostly HTML doc screens/few simple menu plug ins. I have read that creating for Android is harder than on iOS, so if I plan to make the same app for iOS in BT ver 2.0, will this be easier (and shorter) since I know what I'm doing setting up the screens etc) ?? My issue is that I can only do the control panel side of things for iOS, as I don't have a Mac for Xcode yet =( logic being I can get a head start on the BT control panel for the iOS version? Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks, Tish.

More importantly consider using Dropbox for Config file and use same Buzztouch app for both OS. Fred

Sounds good @Fred! Using the Dropbox method I wouldn't have to create another BT version for iOS then? Do you have any quick links in one of your guides where I can read about this? Thanks, Tish.

I've described to concept in several posts, didn't make a copy. Read Buzztouch & JSON Basically steps are: You have two copies of the Source Code one for iOS and one for Android You have the app look to Dropbox for the Online Config file. You could leave the Online Config file on the Control Panel but you have to compromise your choice of screens. You use appropriate resources (images) for each OS. Some will work in both, others won't. Add files (HTML) accordingly. Now here'a the real trick. Learn to read the Config file. Now that you can read it, you can modify it. So each app has it's own Online Config file. You could use the Control Panel do one of the OS but this could be complicated.

Hi Tish, The great thing about buzztouch is that you can literally design an app once, and get source code for both Android AND iOS! The fact that you've created one for Android means that a package already exists (once you click create) for iOS. The rub here, though, is that the way it looks on Android might not look the same on iOS, and vice versa. Lots of people design for iOS and then when they build it for Android, find it looks radically different. So, you might not actually have to duplicate the app! Once you run it in Xcode, it may look perfect, and you're done! If you want to send me your iOS code package, I can run it and do a video for you so you can see what it looks like. Then you can decide if you need an iOS specific version. MrkFleming at gmail dot com Mark

Thanks for that summary @Fred! I will read more into JSON to try and get my head around things! And Mark, that would be awesome if I could send over the iOS package to you? Just a few more tweaks to my app and I'll send it over via email if that's ok- that would be a HUGE help!! Thanks, Tish
