Need Someone to Test my App.

I need someone to test an App I'm working on. I don't have any kind of Android device at all. It works like I want it to in the Emulator. The link to the .apk is http://virginiaelks.org/VEA_Mobile_App.apk . It's an App that provides location maps for all the Elks Lodges in Virginia. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello mongerrl, I just downloaded your app and tested it on my Galaxy S. Your app is probably made by using BT 1.4. The latest news section is really very informative with many current affairs at your location. However, the other sections in which you have linked location maps did not work properly in my device when i tapped the balloon for getting directions. Despite my GPS turned on it gave me an error message saying "driving directions cannot be determined because your device is not reporting your location. I am not sure but i think this might be because i'm situated in other country (India). And the image of map is also sort of blank. I've sent you an email on your address and received an auto response immediately. So this is working fine. To let you know better how your app is working on my device and what exactly are the errors, i have posted screenshots of the same in the following links. Screen 1: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61663890/20120513104002.png Screen 2: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61663890/20120513104025.png Screen 3: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61663890/20120513104050.png Screen 4: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61663890/20120513104106.png Screen 5: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61663890/20120513104121.png Go through these images and you will know what exactly i mean. Have a nice day.

Sandeep: Thanks for downloading and testing my app. I appreciate your taking the time to evaluate my app and for responding to me about it. I checked your dropbox screenshots and appreciate your posting them. As I stated in my first post, I don't have any device, other than the emulator, to test it on. I know now that it is working partially like I want it to. I wonder if the problem with the maps is because of your location or because of problems with my app? Could someone in the USA please test this for me? I would greatly appreciate it. Meanwhile, I will research this problem with "driving directions cannot be determined because your device is not reporting your location." I seem to remember seeing something about this same problem before. Again, thanks for all you did to help me. I intend to publish this app to Google Play once I know it is working as intended.

Regarding driving direction. In BTv1.5 & BTv2.0 in the control panel there's an option to allow report GPS. It must be set. It's not there in BTv1.4. Fred

Fred: Thanks for that information. Maybe I'll rebuild the app in 1.5. When I chose to develop an app, I took note of the "All the features listed in a v1.5 app control panel are supported on iOS - only some are supported on Android" notice in the landing page for "+New App" choice and decided to develop in 1.4. Where might I find the features that are not supported for Android in 1.5? Would the non supported features apply to my 1.4 app? BTW, did you ever have any luck installing my app after I put it on Dropbox? Since deciding to try developing an app, I've been quite the "Lurker" and have read many of your offerings. Thanks, they have been very helpful. Roger

Yes, your app installed fine, didn't have anything to add that wasn't pointed out above . Regarding BTv1.5, I would strongly recommend BTv2.0 instead. Read Buzztouch screen in my guide. Fred

Fred: Thanks for downloading it and the comments. I understand that the "Directions to..." won't work in 1.4, but did the maps to the different Lodges load okay? That's the main thing I'm worried about before I publish it. I'll check your guide on 2.0. Does 2.0 have any problems with features not working in Android? Again, thanks for all your help. Roger

Actually the driving directions works. Not able to see the map, but when I select driving directions it opens up Google maps. All the Buzztouch plugins work, both iOS and Android. Fred

@mongerrl I'm happy that i was of some assistance to you. Fred's blog is really an asset to all of us new users at Bt. It has all the answers to our questions and doubts and we all are really thankful to him. As far as i know, the maps in bt work on coordinates given by the developer, so there is no room for error from the bt. I've never used 1.4 myself, so, i dont know what bugs it has in it. 1.5 would work fine, but as Fred already said, 2.0 is really recommended for new users. Have you taken bt Learning Path tutorial? If yes then you will come to know more about setting location maps in lesson 3. I personally recommend you to go through that video. Tell us when you complete building your app on new bt version, we all are ready to test it for you at that time too. Till then happy buzz!!!
