Problem with next steps

Hi all I have successfully created my basic screen in the Buzztouch Control Panel and exported them to Xcode. But now Im stuck and have no idea how to edit each screen in Xcode. When I try to access the Xcode tutorials on Buzztouch U it keeps saying they are not available. A lot of the tutorials I have seen online only show app created from scratch and obviously the Buzztouch workflow already has some code written in. Thanks

You wish to edit the screen in Xcode? Apparently you're lost. What are you trying to accomplish? Fred

Hi Hannah, Welcome to buzztouch! To begin, I would highly encourage you to go through the first five lessons in buzztouch U. They do a great job explaining how all this works. Once you've done that, you'll see that, for the most part, you add/remove screens in your app via the buzztouch control panel. After each modification, if you have your app running in the simulator or on a device, you can generally do a refresh (button in upper-right corner of home screen), and the new changes will be picked up. That's what makes buzztouch so super cool! Unless you are doing something out of what buzztouch already gives you (yep, they have lots of code already written for you), then you should never have to touch any code in Xcode at all. Take some time to view those videos, and shoot us some more questions if you run into issues. The more specific you can be (specific errors, steps you are taking, what you want to accomplish), the better we can help you! Thanks, Mark

Hi all Thanks for the advice you all gave me on my post yesterday. I have re watched the first 5 tutorials which are informative but only seem to skim over the very basics of actually building the app. I feel like Im progressing slightly but there are still a few issues Im having trouble with. Just to begin Iam creating an app which people can download and use to view and learn about all the trees on my local river as they walk around the area. I have already set up a tabbed layout and linked blank screens to these apart from the map plugin. This is the structure at the moment.... 1. Splash screen 2. "About" tab 3. Map of the important trees 4. History of the trees and area tab 5. Tree images tab 6. Info tab Ok my first problems 1. I have set up a splash screen and uploaded an image for it, but it is not showing in the simulator 2 For my about page all I want to have is just text explaining what I am doing, what plugin would I use for just "text only". ? 3 What plugin would I use for if I wanted both images and text ? 4 How do I link thumbnails to larger images ? Thanks Aiden

For plain text I would suggest a HTML doc or Word doc. For thumbnails a menu (buttons) linking to either gallery or HTML doc. After uploadeding image you must add the image to the Source Code iOS or Android? BTv1.5 or v2.0? Fred

Hi Aiden, Here are some answers to your questions: 1. When you upload an image/doc in BT v2.0, all you are doing is sorta archiving the media in case you need it later. It does NOT get included as part of your download package. In your case, you still need to add the media to your Xcode project. So, since this is an image, add it to the BT_Images folder, and then drag that image into the same location in your Xcode project. Here's a document that explains how to do that: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Adding_Files_To_A_Project_v1.0.pdf 2. For your About page, I think using the "Custom HTML/Text" plugin would be the best approach. 3. For a page that has both images and text, using the HTML plugin is probably the best bet. That requires you to learn HTML, but that's super easy, and there are tons of programs out there that can create an HTML page for you for free. 4. Linking thumbnails to larger images sounds like an HTML solution to me. Let's assume you have an icon.png file that you want to link to a bigpicture.png file. Here's how it would look: <a href="bigpicture.png"><img src="icon.png"></a> That code takes your icon and turns it into a link, which takes you to the bigpicture.png image. Hope this helps a bit! Mark

Hi all Got my about page and map page running good. I have uploaded my tabbed layout images to Buzztouch. But when I download the source code and look at the BT images folder, there isn't anything inside it. I have copied the BT images folder in to Xcode and then dragged the images to the BT images folder but when I run the simulator I can that there is a blue box instead of the image. Any ideas ? Thanks Aiden

When you download the Source Code the image file will be empty because you haven't added the images at that point.

The little blue box with a question mark is saying "I know there's suppose to be a image here, but where do I find it . Read The Buzztouch Method, HTML &Buzztouch www.MySkylla.com Fred

Have you refreshed? Clean build run is what all the iOS people say. See Buzztouch's How To for adding images to iOS app. Fred

Hey just looked at the help and still can find a solution to the image problem. I have the rest of the app sorted just cant seem to get past this problem. Im doing everything the tutorial tells me too. Let me just go over it again 1. I have uploaded 5 images (25px x 25px) to the tabbed layout form 2. I then go to my source BT images folder and when I look inside the folder there isn't any images inside it, so I drag the original image files into this folder. 3. I then drag the images files from the source BT images folder over too the BT folder in Xcode. I then rebuild. The strange thing is when I view the tabbed form in the simulator the outline of the images are there. and these outlines are even the same size as the images I uploaded (25px x 25px)
