2.0 ios app recycled and now buttons do not work

I am now working on 1.5 apps. I recycled the 2.0 app and removed all the pages and started from scratch. I added a Home Screen (simple menu), an email app and a location map (as per the Youtube tutorial vid). I downloaded and opened in xcode. The simulator runs the app but the refresh button and the two app links on the home screen do not open. I can make changes in Control panel and they are reflected when I close and reopen the simulator, but still no buttons work Is there a solution?
