Bringing an App From Eclipse to Website

I just finished my app in eclipse. Was able to set up a server on the company website with bt. Now what? How do I go about putting this on the server. Does anyone know if there are specific instructions to go about uploading an app on to a company website for hosting and linking it up on a word press webpage so people on droids visiting the site can download it?

Hi @ron1270, Welcome to buzztouch! I take it this mean you have exported the app, signed it with a release key, and have created an apk file? If so, all you need to do now is upload it to a location on your server and put a link to it. The link could be something like: <a href="applocation/mycoolapp.apk">Check out this app!</a> When the person running Android clicks on the link, they should be asked if they want to install it. Easy peasy! If you still need to create the apk file, check out this doc: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Compiling_Your_Android_Application_v1.0.pdf Hope this helps! Mark

I went and put my apps on the droid market, (googleplay) and then i link to them from my website to Google Play. Also, i use on of those website link barcodes that a phone can read...you know the little square QR Code deals. For an example of how i lay it out, go to www.DigitalDevelopments.org The way i did it was to set the code as html in a text/html widget. You can get the QR code for free here... http://www.i-nigma.com/CreateBarcodes.html Regardless of whether you put the app on your server or on the market, the QR code can be used wherever you want...your website, Facebook, other peoples websites, heck, i would imagine you could even put it in an image ad (though I have never tried that and I would think that adwords would nix it since it removes the need to click the ad)

You don't need a third party data thieving website for QR Codes, just use the google api: http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?chs=250x250&cht=qr&choe=UTF-8&chl=whatever you like here where 250x250 is the size that can be set to anything square and 'whatevr you like here' is a url, sms, phone number or whatever. Here's one for buzztouch: http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?chs=500x500&cht=qr&choe=UTF-8&chl=http://buzztouch.com You can stick the QR image into image editing software and make some interesting qr codes: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/56760890/chart.png

haha! ok ASusoeff :) If you modify the colours, make sure they're fairly dark, otherwise readers struggle with them. Do you use fireworks or photoshop? If so, you can use a paint bucket tool to fill the qr code with an image, it's a very cool effect: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/56760890/chart2.png
