Rejected Reason 12.3

Well, I'm a little disappointed about my app being rejected. It got rejected under 3 different sections. 2 of them are easily corrected, but the remainder is a not. It's basically what my whole app is based on, lol. Anyway, my app is a collection of all the popular websites rolled into one application. I did a lot of research and collected almost 1000 of the most popular websites out there and put them in categories, so you could access them all very quickly. I know that you could bookmark a bunch if you wanted to in Safari etc ... but the leg work is all done .... I showed it to a lot of people and everyone thought it was a great concept. Anyway, here is what apple said: 12.3 Additionally, we found that the experience your app provides is not sufficiently different from browsing a content aggregator web site, as required by the App Store Review Guidelines. While your app may facilitate access to content from a range of web sites, even when including features such as Push Notifications, the experience it provides is not significantly different from using Safari. Such apps do not include enough native iOS functionality to be appropriate for the App Store. We encourage you to review your app concept and evaluate whether you can incorporate additional features to enhance the user experience. Alternatively, you may wish to consider building a web app using HTML5. HTML5 is the major new version of HTML and enables audio and video to play natively in the browser without requiring proprietary plug-ins. Using HTML5, web apps look and behave like native iPhone and iPad apps, and using HTML5's Offline Application Cache, your web apps work even when the device is offline. With web apps, you have flexibility to deliver as much or as little functionality as you desire. If you wish to build an HTML5 web app, you can do so and distribute it directly from your web site. It is not appropriate to submit an HTML5 web app to the App Store. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to change the app to get accepted ? Or is my app just a wash .... Or ... should I peruse the web app route ?? Any input would be greatly appreciated !!!! Thanks !!!!

Droid is not nearly as "ticky" about apps... Might try compiling with eclipse and subbmitting there and see how the app does, (as a small political rant) i think that behavior such as that from apple will eventually result in their dimise. Markets have a funny way of deciding what they want regardless of what any political, theologival or other body of authority says about it...Just look at how successful prohibition was... Ok, I will get off my soapbox now :-)

I don't think eclipse is hard, but then I don't have a mac so I've never tried xcode. I would imagine they are about the same. I just followed the how to and tutorials that @gonorthwest and others put together and it worked. if you have problems send me a message and I'll walk you through it.

Try adding a quiz and see if it gets approved. I got one through that except for the quiz was just a web app.

Hey Captain, Eclipse can be challenging to get going, but just as easy as iOS once you're underway. Here are some docs to get you started: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Setting_Up_Your_Android_Development_Environment_v1.3.pdf http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Compiling_Your_Android_Application_v1.0.pdf Let us know how we can help you! @susanMetoxen raises a good point with regards to iOS. Though i do nto do iOS, I have heard this before, adding a quiz or other little application within the app will be enough for apple...they are just kinda strange that way.
