Word to .htm to BT?

I am trying to figure out 'html'. I have a word document that has text and graphics- I saved it as an '.htm' file and then added it to the 'html screen' I created in BT...I can see it in the simulator but it's small and my graphic is not there :( I've never played with html before but understand that BT is capable of highlighting addresses/phone numbers etc to link to the proper app....I have gone through adding the folder to the 'bt docs' in xcode but it freezes my simulator..... What i'm loading is fairly static information and i'm very comfortable with my control panel so if there is a way to do it through BT I would rather put in the extra work there :)

Check out the advance settings re links. It's probably best to copy Word to text editor to html doc Word has many extras you don't want. Fred

you will have to "call out" the graphic like this: <img src="file:///C|/Users/Office/Documents/DigitalDevelopmentsProjects/website_under_construction.gif" width="1024" height="1024"> Where everything in the "xxxx" is the path to your picture on you rserver space. (or somebody else's that you use like icloud or amazon or whatever). There is probably a way to put the pic in the BT_images folder as well,m but i will deffer to guys like @goNorthWest who know WAAAAAYYY more than me.. Hope that helps

Asusoeff- whatever you said is going much farther than my program language skills LOL. Is there a way for me to upload a different file format and have it work? All that is on this 'page' is address/phone website and a graphic.....I don't mind going about it the hard way until I understand more of html

Hi @WinePortInc, If your information is going to be fairly static, I might recommend that you convert the page to a PDF document instead of HTML. When Word exports HTML it adds a lot of junk that simply gets in the way, and if you have a limited understanding of HTML already, it adds a layer of complexity that you don't need. You could also just keep it as a Word document, as buzztouch supports that as well. iOS will open a Word doc without needing any other apps, and Android requires a helper app, but there are free ones available. So, unless you have a compelling reason to use HTML, then PDF or Word would be the way to go. @ASusoeff - if you try to reference your images in HTML using the example you provided, it won't work. You either need to reference the image as just the filename, assuming a local image, as such: <img src="coolimage.png"> Or you reference it from a URL: <img src="http://dropbox.com/public/coolimage.png"> You need to make sure that your images are in the appropriate folder depending on the version of buzztouch you are using, and that they are named in a manner consistent with the rules for the platform. See the Readme file with your code for details. The awesome thing about images on iOS is that you put them in the BT_Images folder, and you can create subfolders to organize them if you want. But you are only required to reference the image name...not the path through the folders. buzztouch will find the image! Very cool! Mark

I've uploaded both a pdf and a word...the simulator has an error message 'data for this screen has not been downloaded....' am I using the wrong versions? I created a 2.0 app and I've been running the 4.2 simulator....

Did you add the PDF file to your Xcode project? It has to be there in order for buzztouch to grab it. You'll want to put the doc in BT_Docs, and then also add the file to your Xcode project. There's a How-To about that in the How-To section! Mark

Did you specify the filename in the configuration section for that screen? You just need the filename...no path references on your computer like f:///<blah>. Just "file.pdf" (no quotes)

No path references- and yes it's in my BTdocs folder in xcode as a 'docx'file. I can get it to show up in the simulator...just missing my graphic and the 'blue' links do not appear to go anywhere

I'd go with either using a .doc file (docx might be too new), or PDF, and see what happens. Are the blue links supposed to go somewhere? Can you give some examples?

That boggles me! Not sure what that's all about. All I can think is that it has to do with the docx format perhaps.

I'm working on it and still figuring out a few kinks- I didn't get the size issue straightened out. THe only thing I can figure is the simulator with BT (different versions of everything) might not show it correctly. So I'm working on getting some extra $ so I can pay for the developer account and run the simulator through my phone....if you know of a way to fix the size let me know. Everything else in my app/simulator is showing properly.

You can use your phone while tethered without being a member of a iOS program. Other options: Testflight Play app on web or Android or iPhone (see Xcode in MySkylla'a Guide to Buzztouch www.MySkylla.com) Jailbreak
