Missing Images testing on IOS devices

Hey, I'm testing my app on IOS devices. On my MAC everything works fine, on my devices I have some problems. Splash image only works first time I open app. If I close it and open it again it won't show. Tab images are visible, but all images in html doc's, don't show, just a square and question mark... What am I missing? Thanks

Hey MadRod, When you "close" your app, are you just clicking the home button on your device, or are you actually killing the app process? If you're just hitting the home button, then you're not killing the process, but rather moving the app to the background. The splash screen only displays when the app starts...not when it comes back to the front. This is the basic process : http://www.imore.com/2010/08/10/ios-4-features-background-app-killing/ For the images, did you add the images to your BT_Images folder, as well as adding them to Xcode? They have to be in both places. Just doing a refresh of the app won't work (unless you specify a URL for the images)...you have to rebuild the app with the images as part of the project. Mark

Did you do a Product...Clean on your app? And what does it say in the debug console when you load that screen and you don't see an image? Mark

Hi, it says: Image for button exists in bundle - not downloading. And there is something else, I created the app on buzztouch and donwloaded the cxcode files on a early version os the app, its completely different now. The first time I open the app, it displays the old version, only after refresh does it update. Anyway to have it open in the last version? Thanks

I'd do this: Delete the old app from your device or simulator. Go into your BT Control Panel, copy the current Configuration Data, and paste it into your local BT_Config.txt file (assuming you want to run your most current version of the app). Do a Product...Clean in Xcode, and then run/compile the app again. This method will give you the absolute latest version of the app as buzztouch sees it and, if all your images/etc are in the right place, you should see the button. Mark

Thanks, that solved the loading an old version of the app. Still problem with the images. Would it help if I paste the debug whole message for when I open and costum HTML that does not load the image? Thanks

Let me just clarify something that I may have left unclear. All images for all icons appear. the only images that I don't see are the ones in costum html pages. Thanks again.

Ok, that changes things a bit! You'll want to reference you image in HTML like you normally would with the img src tag. But you can just specify a file name...no path required. Then out the image in BT_Images, and in Xcode project as well. Recompile, and you should be good! Mark

OK, so in the HTML source, instead of having like ....scr="file://localhost/Users/madrod/Dropbox/Regret/App/XXX, I should only have scr=XXX?

You can also use a URL if you want to pull the image from the web. In that case, you do NOT need to add it to your project.

I haven't got it to work yet, but I now understand that it must only be a html problem. I'll do some test. I let you know the outcome. Thanks.

Glad you got it worked out! Interesting addition to this whole thing is that, in BT_Images, you can create as many subfolders as you want, put images in them, but only have to reference the image by the filename, and not the whole path! So, you could have an image called, say, BT_Images/MenuIcons/Small/first.png, and you only need to reference the image like <img src="small.png">. BT is smart enough to find the image, no matter where it is in the root folder! Good stuff! Mark
