Tabbed Layout Image

Trying to add an image to the tabbed layout menu, is it possible? Are there restrictions to the images used? Have been trying with no success. Thanks

yes, you can add an image to the image folder of your build (or any folder, I think - I just like to keep it organized). Then put the image name in the tabbed layout settings in your buzztouch control panel rather than selecting one from the popup list of icons. PNG format is ideal (necessary?). I just take one from the source download and edit it in photoshop.

I had this problem too. If you are using v2 on an iphone, there is an extra step - you also need to copy the images into your xcode project. The images that you add to your project need to be added to the BT_Images folder, which you can find in the zip file that you download.

That's not an "extra" step. Thats what I was trying to explain in my first sentence :)

Aaah, OK. The only other thing that may be relevant is that size on the ones from BuzzTouch are 22x22 pixels and as you said, png format.

Here's a link to where I always shop for my icons when I need something special for a client. Its always best to start with vector images. http://idevdepot.com/?p=222

Thanks guys, I've tried what you said, and if I use icons that came with my project, it works fine, if take one of those and edit it, it doesn't show. Could it be because I'm tryng to use images, like a foto, and not a black and white icon?

Getting the icons to both work, and look good take some playing. I've tried some graphics that just don't work, period. I think they have to be monochrome (black/white, or some combination of 2 colors). And transparency could also be an issue.

From what I see, or its a vector image or it won't work, at least for me. Thanks.

I was just experimenting a little to find out what the issues might be. I started by editing an existing icon and I finally made a few icons that work in a tab. (I also made quite a few that didn't). My findings are: .PNG format works, I tried a .jpg without success I added some colour, my icon still displayed, not sure the colours did. Size is important but not critical, although anything much larger than about 30 pixels high gets cropped. I believe the key thing is that the icon *has* to have to have transparency otherwise it doesn't work at all. I learned something; I hope it helps.
