Error message the configuration data for this application is invalid

Hi everyone, I am working on this new app (vers. 2.0), added a few screens and now I am getting the following message when testing on the IOS Simulator (xcode 4.3.1). I deleted all the screens on buzztouch , downloaded the source code again and the same message keeps coming up. I read a previous post with a similar issue but that didn't help. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot Farcat

Hi @farcat, The issue is not with the project files, but with the BT_Config.txt file that comes with your app when you download it, and that can be found in the control panel for your app by hitting "Configuration Data" for your app. Copy all the info you see there, go to JSONlint.com, paste it, and see if it validates. If not, the problem is there. If you've pasted any info from Word or something like that, it could be the problem. Feel free to send your BT_Config.txt file to MrkFleming at gmail dot com if you'd like me to check it out! Mark

Hi Mark, Thanks a lot for the quick answer. JSONlint.com came back with an error message, one of the HTML pages had a slash in the nickname instead an apostrophe (a typo). I removed the page from the screen menu, tried to refresh on the simulator but the same error message appeared. Only when I downloaded a fresh source code did the message disappear. Thanks again for the solution. Buzztouch rocks! Farcat

Hi Farcat, Hmmmm...that's weird. There should have been no reason to download the source code at all. The ONLY thing that gets you is an updated BT_Config.txt file, which you could also have gotten by hitting the Configuration Data link in your app's control panel, and copy/paste to your local config file (make sense?). But, either way, glad you got it worked out, and that you can move forward! JSONlint rocks as a way to try and debug stuff! Mark

Noted, thanks Mark. Actually the problem occurred again, I created a Html screen with a apostrophe in the nickname and it automatically changed it to a slash and caused the error. I removed the apostrophe in the nickname and all was good. Me happy again :)

Hi, my error was caused by an invalid character in the nickname of a screen. Make sure you have no apostrophes or similar in any screen nickname.
