I could use some guidance

Hello everyone! I am new to app development and "new" is an understatement. I'm finding the process a bit tricky. I have successfully saved a photo for the app and I have downloaded all the software required. As far as design and uploading data/how it will look in the app. I'm lost :( I tried to create a menu bar today and while I do not give up easily I am clearly missing something. Does anyone know any tips/tricks or tutors?

Hi @WinePortInc, Welcome to buzztouch! Are you looking at iOS or Android apps primarily? Here is a link to things you need to know to get started: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Things_You_Need_Before_You_Start_Developing_Apps_v1.0.pdf It lists all the pieces of the puzzle you need to put into place before you can make real progress. Basically, in buzztouch, you create and link screens together. Each screen does something different - like a menu list or multiple location screen - and each screen has different properties you can set. So, you just have to decide what you want in your app, link those screens together, test it, and publish it! Let us know more specifically what you're trying to do, and we can probably help out. Mark

welcome WinePortInc!. My best advice is to look through the tutorials and spend all the time you can in the forums. Guys like @GoNorthWest and @MacApple and @ianjamespiano have been instrumental in my success! I just released my fourth app today and they are starting to sell a bit too, so i know it is "doAble" Be Patient. There is a pretty good learning curve, but if you survive long enough to NOT put your fist through the computer screen you will do great. Good Luck

I second the above ( should that be third the above?) Post back if you encounter issues, always someone on here burning the midnight oil. Have you managed to get your first app running on your phone then? Welcome and good luck.

Thanks everyone- GoNorthWest i've read the pdf. I've got what I need on that front, Asusoeff- good to hear your apps are selling! MacApple i'm not even close to getting the app on my phone- i'm failing at the simulator stage....Basically what i'm doing is creating a directory. In my head I see the main screen with "buttons" that link you to various sections...the main section being a directory of sorts. The main screen i'm having trouble with is how to get A-Z on the right hand side/importing all of my data. After that screen everything will be uniform....I'm looking forward to burning midnight oil on this one since so many people have expressed interest in purchasing my app once it's up!

Thanks Fred- I"ll check it out. Right now i'm just trying to get the simulator to work properly with a few screens...i'm almost wondering if I have to many different versions of software....I run snow leopard (10.6.8) so that's the xcode package I downloaded....the simulator seems to be stuck on one page so there is no "home" or any other screen I've created there....

Fred- your blog is great- I love the step by step...some of them were not showing in my version but helpful. Now my simulator seems to be stuck on a different screen :( I've been at this for awhile- but I want to at least understand my home screen with buttons before I go to bed- the pic on your blog is exactly what i'm trying to create to start...

For the tabs you know you have to create the screens first then reference them in the tabs, yeah?
