What do you mean by only 3,000 views?

What do you mean by only 3,000 views with the free account? You can only look at your app 3,000 times a month, it can only be downloaded 3,000 times a month, What is meant by that?

Each time a person opens up your app, it contacts the Report to Cloud URL to check if there are any updates to the app. That action is considered a view. So, 3000 people could use your app once a month, 1000 people three times a month, 1 person 3000 times a month, etc. You can change this by taking the app offline, or moving the Report to Cloud URL and Data Configuration URL off buzztouch.com, and onto your server or elsewhere. If you don't need your app to be updated via the internet, this is something to consider. Here's a document that explains things a bit more: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Understanding_App_Refresh_and_Offline_Apps_v1.0.pdf Also, take some time to go through Buzztouch U...you'll learn a ton about how everything works! Does this also apply to all the times a developer interrogates his/her app ("Report to Cloud URL")? I have been viewing my app quite a bit while i update or enhance its features, could soon hit 3000 times i reckon..

Hi Mark @GoNorthWest Thanks for taking the time to write an excellent document around this. I am in process of undertaking testing to roll out changes to my live app next month and was seeking clarity on relocating the app's config.txt to an external server. Your doc listing the pros/cons under various scenarios is simply brilliant and good assistance to fellow BT developers. Good work!! Cheers Savio

Hi @Savio, Glad it was helpful! Can't wait to see your app! @Omoba - yes, I believe it's the Report to URL that gets recorded as views, and I don't believe BT can distinguish between a user and you checking your app out. If you run into issues, send mail to [email protected]...they'll work to make it all right! Mark

Rather than start a new thread gonna hijack this one... If the app opens a website using launch native app Why then when you use the right hand click button on the phone to return to the app does it appear to count as a new view?

@RobK - My guess is when the app is bought to the forefront.. the app re-checks the buzztouch server to see if there has been an update to your app (assuming the app's config(config.txt) has the url reference pointing to BT). So this is potentially counted as a view. Therotically you could come back from the native app back into your app in 3 minutes or 3 hours.. That does not matter I believe the app's inbuilt function is to call up BT(in the background) to check if there is an update. The idea is to roll out changes(wherever possible) to users dynamically without the need to provide a full update via the market place(s) Mark's document above provides an excellent overview and suggest various alternate strategies you could implement depending on your individual app needs(depending on how you intend to roll out future changes) as well as take care of app views.
