Totally depends on the app, subject matter and target demographic. For a small niche, it's ok.

Thank you. The app is about Universe, planets and Universe news.

sounds good to me - but 600 downloads at .99 sounds would sound a lot better to your bank account. raise that price and see what happens, it appears people are interested in your content.

Yes. It would be fine to have 600 downloads with 99 cents. Unfortunately with 99 cents i had only 50-60 downloads a month.

The model that seems to work best is Freemium. Most of the apps on the Apple App Store are moving in that direction. Android was already using this model. But , which model will prove best for you is ? As for 600 downloads per day, well it certainly better than most apps. It may not be where you wish to be, but it's certainly a place to build from. @DannyH, Having the same problem myself....though not getting 600 downloads a day on my free version! But, I get a couple paid ones a week, and tons of free ones a week. Bottom line, I think, is that most people want something for nothing, and prefer free over paid. Mark

Out of all the major markets I find that my apps on Appstore sell in larger quantities compared to all the other markets. The cheapest market is Android. The users on there want everything for free. I've stopped making apps for Android, and I can see a lot more developers abandoning the Android flea market. As for 600 per day, thats really good I'd say.

interesting - i had a discussion with a developer recently about Android Apps and that's almost exactly what he said and called it - the flea market. apparently he posted an app about 2 years ago and someone downloaded the app, uncompiled it, re-created and re-sold it with their branding. they won't go near the Android platform now until they initiate some controls/checks to prevent that. he said once he explains this to customers - they usualy decide they don't want Android versions of the Apps he makes. but he knows open source is the draw of that market and the lack of reviews/controls is part of that. i did some googling and it seems that Android is coded in java so there are a ton of java tools to reverse engineer them out there. Apples .ipa are coded in C and no so many (if any ) tools to take them apart. i just always assume - if someone wants to bad enough they will find a way to do anything.....

As far as I was aware, objective c is much easier to disassemble than dalvik. Isn't there even a decompiler included in the Xcode libraries? - otool?

Yes, there are decompilers for c/objective c stuff but the code if barely (not really) readable/reusable versus a Java or Visual Basic disassembled app which can be more easily reconstructed.

I have had about 1000 downloads for the whole month DannyH, but my free app is pretty "niche"; it is specifically built for boy scout leaders. Sounds like you made a pretty popular app! Cngrats :-)
