Xcode cannot run using the selected device

After codesigning the app in xcode i get this error when trying to run it on my iphone: Xcode cannot run using the selected device. No provisioned iOS devices are available with a compatible iOS version. Connect an iOS device with a recent enough version of iOS to run your application or choose an iOS simulator as the destination. Specs: Xcode:4.2 IOS on Iphone:5.1 Any idea of how i can fix this?

do you need a newer version of xCode? I don't have the versions memorized, but I though 4.2 was the snow leopard version for 5.01 ios?

That's right. I just upgraded to 4.2, but kept my devices on 5.01. Are you sure you have the device listed in a good provisioning profile? Are you compiling for development or distribution?

Couple things to try... 1. In the scheme menu at the top left of xCode, does it say iOS device, or does it actually have the name of your device? I've noticed in the new version (4.2) that it sometimes lists them seperate. 2. Did you add armv6 in the build settings? This shouldn't have an affect on your 5.1 device, but depending on what ios you're baselining on, you may want to add it anyhow.

You need to download the latest SDK for iOS 5.1. xCode ver. 4.2 uses SDK for 5.0. Do a complete install of xCode 4.3.2 from apple developer site (The update is not available in app store).

Your provision files are messed up. Delete the old ones in the keyschain access, re-download from your dev account and you should be fine. I'm running 4.2 with 5.1SDK no problems. Submitted few apps already that got approved, so no problems there. Its your certs and keys that are messed up.
