Configuring Xcode to be compatible with older versions of iOS

Hello there everyone, I just got app #3 accepted to the app store and it only works for iOS 5.1. I thought I had Xcode configured for earlier versions of iOS but apparently I missed something. (my earlier apps work on iOS 5.0 and I configured xcode for app#3 the same. Only difference is I'm now running the latest version of Xcode) Im not in front of Xcode at the moment so can't list exactly what my settings are. (can do that later) In general though can someone advise what settings to enable to be backward compatible to say iOS 4.0?

Hey CapItan Galactic! All you need to do is set your Target iOS level to whatever one you want. I generally set it to iOS 3, so it's as far backwards compatible as possible. If you poke around the Target settings for your application, you should be able to find that entry pretty easily (I'm not in front of my computer at the moment). Check out this document...it has an example of where to make the setting: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Submitting_Your_App_To_iTunes_Connect_v1.0.pdf Mark

Thanks Mark! I have read several of your articles and documente and wanted to thank you for all of your help. I think there is another setting besides the target if I'm not mistaken. My feeling is to resubmit a binary to apple so it's backward compatible and don't want to screw it up since its already out there. The app I'm referring to is Jazz Fest Simplified - The Unofficial Guide. Check it out if you like: A63KWM4M4T Regards, Rob

Glad I can help! If you follow the guide, you should be good. Those are settings I used for an actual app. That's the only setting that targets older iOS versions that I'm aware of. The others are for things like arm architecture and target device. I'll check out the app...thanks for the code! Mark
