Greetings, I created a small quiz-app for testing purposes (just to see if it'll work in the emulator). There are no compiling errors, and when I "run as >> android application" in Eclipse , the screen stays stuck at the "Downloading, this should only take a moment" (in the emulator). I've waited for over an hour to no avail. Plus playing around, searching around Google (to no avail). And if so, how do I fix this? This is an "vers. 1.4" app. And in AVD Manager, I'm at Platform 1.6, with API level 4. Target Name: Google APIs (Google INC.) I've gotten this far due to the "How To's" section. But this problem is giving me a headache. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Take a look at the link and see if it helps.

@raveyd It seems everyone on the SOF thread wants to get onto their wifi, not their LAN. I'm at a university and behind a proxy; a LAN connection is all I have. After checking, all my DNS servers look something like: fec0:0: (etc)... Yes, I think if I can connect to the net, it might work, but no luck so far...

@raveyd Just to clarify, I can connect to the Net from the emulator's browser (Reuters, CNN, whatever)... It's just that I keep getting the same "Warning: No DNS servers found" error, and the "Downloading, This should only take a minute" screen never leaves...

Before you get too involved in solving this problem you should test on a device. Fred

Agree with Fred. I would think it's the Uni proxy server causing the problems, blocking the url? data transfer?

Solution: There problem was resolved when using an v1.5 instead of v1.4
