New iPad and iPhone

Do i have to download an SDK for New iPad and iPhone each of them? I am wondering about previewing movie files , specifically R3D files. That are created with the Red Camera. (a 5.5k resolution digital film format). I just want to see clips from it. When I am filming I am recording at 50 megabytes per frame, so you can see my need to only see the first picture or frame as a thumbnail rather than a whole movie.

Hi @TribalPoint, Welcome to buzztouch! The single iOS SDK available at the Apple Developer Center covers all iOS products - iPhone, iPad and iPod. Not sure what the answer to your movie question is. Will you have these clips on the device itself? 50mb/frame seems pretty huge, and could overwhelm the storage available on the device extremely quickly. Mark

Nice to be here. Thanks for the welcome. For the movie question. I want to just have a preview of the first frame in proxy mode. When we record video/film with a RED it records in R3d, so we technically are not seeing a 50 meg file, we see code. So the code breaks down proxie versions of a High Resolution, Med Resolution, Low Resolution, and of course in this particular case.. Preview Resolution. I just need the pull the first frame of the Preview Resolution. Knowing that Ill need to translate the R3D code into a sample JPG file that can be previewed in the ipad or iphone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A63VwWz1ij0 (was our first music video shot in the red by me.) So we want to sync a slate to our storyboards (Slate = clapper stick)

cool video, R3D sounds intriguing. is it a 3D type format? you can easily link your app to youtube videos you have done and posted. let you tube handle the hosting/processing of the videos. you tube displays displays/formats the page the user will see based on the device they detect, so you can use the same screen in an app that works for both iphone/ipad. i'm still tinkering with the youtube:// URL scheme. some say it works but i've not found a good one yet.... that would launch the native youtube app that is pre-installed on every iphone/ipad already.

Hi @TRibalPoint, Awesome video! I love Paramour...they have a great sound! So, if I understand this correctly, you want to extract a frame from Preview Resolution and display that in your app? That should be totally doable I would think, especially if you can generate the JPG on the backend somehow, and then just bring it into a buzztouch app via a single image screen or custom URL or something. What sort of code is necessary to generate the preview frame? Is it a client or server code? Mark
