LocoLopez. No real good way of doing this yet. I have tried myself a million times. 1.5 and 2.0 (server) don't seem to be progressing that fast on a audio plugin.

I use this, it works well, it's simple to modify and looks great in an app: http://www.codebasehero.com/2011/06/html-music-player/

ah cheers raveyd i was under the impression if your self hosting you can upload your music and video that way Anyway let me pick me your brain while your here i may have an easy way round it for people. I use a company called wigetbox for clever java or html widgets to use on websites and wondered if they coul not be pased into a custom html ? The wigets people have made range from music players to news feeds to weather reports and there simple copy and paste code into snippet so you think there could work on here ? Merely a suggestions mind you Chris

Hi,i recommend you to all that one, download the zip folder edit it with your own logo color button players, it's easier to setup. It does support .mp3 .m4a .m3u streaming links, it work for iOS, as for the Android haven't check out not yet. Download the file. http://www.sendspace.com/file/usfsei Sample pic here. http://imageshack.us/f/638/samplegd.png

^^ wow, thanks. is this a packaged jplayer you made @Laurand? or is that something else that BT put out there? (BTW love the Horse with no Name Stream. wonder who is the America fan at BT?) customizing the layout/look sounds pretty straight forward- but any chance you can expand a bit on how you installed/integrated this with your app? like which folder(s) it resides in? talk about saving some work for folks, we all want a simple audio/video player like this. jpalyer supports video so adding that to this pkg you posted is something i'd like to dig into.

@Laurand thanks again for this. had to play with it today as i realized you saved me a chunk of work. thankful for that as this project i wanted audio for just went from 'next month' to 'is it ready yet?' i want to go back and look more at jplayer config and toy with some options, but I've got it running in my app now! here's how i did it: (i'm running BT server 2.0 on my own domain FWIW) that folder you supplied - BT Player i just copied that to my website and then i'm linking to the index.html file using a Custom URL screen. looks slick and very custom inthe app once i modified the graphics, buttons and .css you provided. i duplicated that index.html screen and can use it to call other files. then i just link buttons to the new urls. big thanks for providing that source.

Hello Atrain53, you very welcome, i'm glad it worked for you. Isn't from BT, it's something that i used for my app to. Yes this is what i meant edit it with your own links and logos, upload it to your FTP servers, then link it to your BT app or as HTML text method.

FYI If you are trying to tinker with jplayer today they apparently switched hosts and the domain is down. they posted it'll be back up in 24 hrs when DNS propigates... the scripts they host that are refernced in the code do still work nice to know, esp if you might be planing to use this in an APP. i saw one post in their googlegroup that claims Pandora uses jplayer in some capacity. i can see why. great stuff, lots of fun to customize.

Hahaha ATRAIN53 they all are bunch of freaks, ops to that sorry. @LocoLopez hello, 1st download the needs on your desktop at the link above, then edit it the way player should be for you, after you done upload it to FTP servers, if you don't have one ask it to your friends to host it for you. example (http://www.mywebsite.com/myihponeappplayer) Create a new tab here to BT either as URL or as HTML text.

@XactWeb - it works for me on my Android device under the native browser. i'm running Gingerbread 2.3.4 on an HTC device. are you sure it's not a simple media format issue? i'm using an mp3 file. actually that fact it works and i can use the same links in both an iOS and Android APP is yet another reason i'm planning to use jplayer. love that rare cross platform compatibility between APPS when you use HTML links. saves a ton of work. if you allow messages or post an email i'll send you a link to my demo. (i don't want to post it public until the APP is complete and $$$ in hand) or you can check this link: http://lpo.notthesixties.org/lovesongs/ that's a bands site that uses jplayer. may not be the best music but a very cool design and use of jplayer. (click the Listen link and note these are .ogg files, not .mp3) i did notice that the animated LED (loading.gif) didn't work under Android but the other functions like PLAY/PAUSE and RELOAD worked as expected. about to try making my own jplayer VIDEO screen today now that the site is back up. i' like to package at lest 1 or 2 Vids in the app and stream the rest....

Atrain53 I will check the media format. Also if one could come up with a way to do a play list off a screen that would be money. I think thats a big feature buzztouch needs to make.

Hi all, new to BT and these Forums. I'm trying to implement a music player for an iOS app. Is anyone able to better explain the player Laurand posted? There is no documentation included... which is kind of baffling to me, as there appears to be A LOT of code to apparently only play/stop a single song... If an individual knew how to extrapolate the extra controls of this player (which surely must be there), that same person probably wouldn't need to download someone else's code to begin with... so .... Ya, a little frustrating. I must be missing something really obvious here.

So, after searching Google for a few minutes, I found at least a dozen other players that accomplish the same thing... and then some. like this one: http://jplayer.org/latest/demos/ This player can be embedded within an app itself, or referenced by a custom URL, etc. It is also super easy to understand and customize. It can do video, audio, playlists, streaming, embedded, skins, you name it.. The player will also optimize itself depending on the hardware running it. Anyways, Enjoy!

Hi Stormy and LocoLopez, actually to what i posted it's much easier and it also allows you to create a whole app tab and no just a player to what jplayer offers, the only you have to do is change audio link with your own of course logos to, i marked a sample of it see the attachment. http://uploadpic.org/storage/2011/QwtwtnhVgln2OAhzBq0X0JwhC.png

Laurand, respectfully I spent hours trying to decipher what the player you posted can even do, beyond the stop/play of a single song. If someone is interested in playing only 1 song, with VERY minimal controls, then your player is possibly easier to implement (I would actually disagree). I was also able to reference a .m3u file in your player, but without better controls to move through the playlist, what is the point? For ANYTHING beyond playing a single song, the player you posted does not seem to be very robust, as posted, and has zero instructions or useful demos/examples to expand upon it. I'm not sure what you mean with regards to "a whole app tab" - I can embed the jplayer in an html5 app screen... Loco, I'll put together something soon to show how the jplayer can be used with very minor customization's required.

Hi Stormy,it's what myself i found it a better player, yes the source code i shared it allows and display the tab all the way needed to, change color logos backgrounds place more credits inside, it's compatible for all devices itself display retina for large or small devices and rotating. I wasn't referring only about player but also as full tab player, it's just a single player not a multiplayer. That's nice as you already are setup and to go with jplayer.

Stormy - you should check out the jplayer developer guide here: http://www.jplayer.org/latest/developer-guide/ It's capable of a lot more than you might think. Works just as good for video too. the # beauty of it - it's CROSS PLATFORM. so you could code up the same page and link to it from both iOS and Android apps and play a song/video on either device with the same URL. I've moved more into the native AudioFramework in iOS recently and as fancy as my native iOS Audio "player" is starting to look... I'm already lamenting the fact this won't work on Android and i'm gonna have to learn their Audio Framework or use jPlayer in those apps.

ATRAIN, that is exactly my point. The extra stuff you posted is more or less what I posted already. And yes, the Jplayer is basically superior in every way, including cross platform, playlists, video, skins, etc. I still dont understand what Laurand is referring to when he says his players has a "full tab player"... If he means an all black background equals a full screen/tab.... then I dont know what to say to that. Just, wow. As to portrait/landscape - that can be controlled in the screen properties itself. Again, I just wanted something better to start from, especially if extra customization's are required either way. No need to re-invent the wheel (i.e. basic player controls).

I think Laurand is saying the way he made that player code he posted - it looks like a 'fullscreen' player on a 'tabbed' screen layout. It does. he might mean something else too. could be some dialect/translation issues here. (I love the worldwide user base we have) I added a bunch of other cool graphics and links to my player 'screen' that Laurand started with. A lot easier to do that with HTML than try to code a native iOS/Androind player screen at that time. 1 URL "update" for both devices. Either way him providing that sample player really helped get me started in the right direction with jplayer. I'm very thankful for him to provide that. Sounds like he did the same for you. Thanks again Laurand!

Loco, use the following as a guide: 1) Go to "jplayer.org/download/" and download the "demos Zip" file 2) Extract the archive and open each demo .htm file until you find one that would like to use as a base for your own player. Note: I chose "demo-02-bm.htm" as my base, since i just want a music player with full controls. 3) The next few steps may vary depending on your use case, your hosting capabilities, and what you want to achieve. For me, I have 10+ songs that I wanted to use in a single App Music player. And I did not want to embed them in the app, for 2 reasons (app size and access control so the music is only available through the app). I'm convinced the app could be decompiled, thus granting access to the music offline and without my control. However, for a measure of increased performance I am using an HTML5 Screen to render the contents of the .htm file (i.e. the markup) - as opposed to creating a Custom URL Screen, and hosting EVERYTHING online. I said a measure of increased performance only because I have not looked into packaging the entire player into the app yet. Still new here. For now, everything EXCEPT the .htm file is being hosted on my web server (i.e. the skin, JS, CSS, and MP3 files). You will want to do the same if your use case is similar. Simply upload all the files to your web server in a meaningful location (i.e. www.mwebsite.com/music directory). 4) Next, within your .htm file, you will need to modify the "src" of your JS and CSS files to where they actually live (i.e. online, or within the app itself) Such as: <link href="http://mywebsite.com/mobile/skin/blue.monday/jplayer.blue.monday.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://mywebsite.com/mobile/js/jquery.jplayer.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://mywebsite.com/mobile/js/jplayer.playlist.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> 5) Next, modify the MP3 file locations to match where you have them hosted. Such as: mp3:"http://mywebsite.com/music/song1.mp3" Just make sure the last bracket containing your last MP3 does not end with a comma (since its the last item in the array, there should not be a comma). Such as: { title:"Song #10", mp3:"http://mywebsite.com/music/song10.mp3" } 6) Next, copy the entire contents of your modified .htm file into an HTML5 Screen. At this point, the player will render correctly in the App were you to build it, excluding any further CSS/HTML tweaks of course. It renders all your songs as expected in the player. However, the songs dont play! This is partly by design. The player is setup to try different formats should the first pass not succeed (this is one facet of it's CROSS-PLATFORM intelligence). In this case, you may notice in my example above I've ommitted any reference to .ogg files - because I dont have ogg versions of my songs, just mp3. However, if you left the ogg references in the code, without the files actually existing where you say they do, the player doesnt play the mp3 songs either. Simply remove the ogg references, and your player WILL play the MP3 songs. That's basically it. There are some further tweaks and customization you can do from there, but that is all gravy at this point if you came this far. Hope this helps!

Hi Stormy2021, You're right, it's very easy to decompile an app, not so easy to retain java files/structure, even with smali/baksmali. Just changing the file extension of an app to .rar and unzipping will expose assets and xml.

ATRAIN, i'm the new guy here, and I hate to start off stepping on toes, but let me clarify just a few points. Either Laurand has a solid web background or he does not. If he does, I can only assume he is withholding information on purpose so other BT members use his markup, only, and not any of the infinitely more flexible/usable open source players out there. Fact. No way around this. Or, if he doesn't, and no disrespect intended, he probably shouldn't offer up a solution that from what I can tell has 90% unused code, and is therefore bloated and sure to cause other issues. Let alone, the clear lack of documentation accompanying it. His solution only confuses those without a web background. Even those who do, need to re-create the wheel to use his player (i.e. basic music controls). For me, only a few hours were wasted when it dawned on me that ANY HTML player can basically be used. Others in this thread have been using the aforementioned player at least since April. That is a disservice, I'm sorry to say. Adding custom HTML/Images to any player is a trivial task. I fail to see your point here. With respect to you and Laurand, I don't see what value there was in posting such a stripped down HTML player to begin with. Alas, each to his own.

FWIW, I just realized that Laurand's player could be used in conjunction with the default homescreen/list menu, where each line in the menu points to a different html screen - presumably 1 screen per song.... This still doesn't seem like a very good approach to me, but that is a subjective opinion. That may work out perfectly for other users.

Hi ATRAIN, you very welcome thank you. Nah jplayer does only gives the coding for making the player and it's nice one,the one i have attached it's all full ready tab, this is what i meant. However if the player it's placed in middle or left or right it does also display the same way for all devices either large small for both iOS and Android. This is because using a jplayer which is example and player of size 320width when you lunch it on iPad it will go somewhere left or right, it has to have the same display for all devices. Hi Stormy i'm not saying nothing wrong on you, you doing it very nice and thank you so much for sharing it's very helpfully for all of us, i appreciate everything is happening here to BT. I'm just explaining what the source i posted does. I see that you are new in here welcome to BT. Isn't just black background, please get more into it and put in your own streaming logos and text schedules. Thanks to all !
