cannot upload update

I have a 1.4 app on Android and I need to upload an update but for some reason the name of my app has changed, it used to be "0Mred7J-8j9-jBK7nQseoPxv_eAWd74xDn_AdDQ" and now it's something like com.Leff Mobile 2.0.com, something like that. How do I go about correcting this so I can upload an update for Android?

Hi BlueSMS, Look for this section in your AndroidManifest.xml file: <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.v1_4.AJDLKJ0928340.com" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.4" > <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" /> Note the "package" section. That's where it needs to be the same as the previous version you submitted. And, you also need to sign it with the same key you used in the previous version, or it won't be recognized as an update. So changing the name won't mess anything up with BT? I assume I have to change all instances in the app?

Hey Blue, Here's the official documentation on the package name: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/manifest/manifest-element.html Note this one line: "Caution: Once you publish your application, you cannot change the package name. The package name defines your application's identity, so if you change it, then it is considered to be a different application and users of the previous version cannot update to the new version." I poked around the files in v1.4 today, and it does seem like there are a lot of places you might have to change the name. Anything in particular you did that might have caused this change? Let me see if I can check with the BT folks on this. Mark

Before you get too involved in changing the package name be sure you have a copy of the source code you originally download ed. You maynot be able to recreate it. One person claimed to have changed the package name of a BTv1.4 app but didn't respond to an inquiry to determine how it was done. If you accomplish same and document it you'll be the first. Fred

I agree with Fred. I wouldn't make any changes until the BT folks comment. Mark
