Android App Test Request - OVFPS

Hi, I have an Android app on the market that appears to be working well for all users but one! The interesting this about this user is that he helped me with a few development versions of the app, which I had him delete, before he installed the final app on his Evo 3D using Android Market (or Google Play, or whatever they call it this week). What he's reporting not working is the Maps screen. So, if somebody has an Android device (and maybe even an Evo 3D), would you please do the following: * Go to Android Market (Google Play) * Search for "OVFPS" * Install the app * Tap on the "Fields" tab * Let me know if the maps come up, and if you see any other issues with that screen. Tapping on a pin should prompt you for driving directions. I very much appreciate the help! I'm sure this is related to him having a previous development version on his phone, but I want to get some reports of it working on other phones as a data point. Thanks! Mark

Interesting. The map screen is giving me what sounds like the same issue on a BT Server 2.0 Android app as well. Happens on my test device and any new users that download it. So i don't think it's an artifact/cache issue of an old test load. Too bad not that simple. The screen launches but it's just the pins and grey tiles. When you tap a pin it does prompt you for directions. If i pick MAPS - that launches Google Maps app and everything works as you'd expect. If i pick INTERNET - it launches the browser with Google Maps and gives me directions plotted to the same point. I'd like to figure out why this occurs....? Someone posted what sounds like the same problem earlier this week and he seemed to figure it out by entering the API key instead of using the string value: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=E66DB958D1CE99678A470E4&fid=0B19EC7C02CBDD92F12FD08&sortColumn=FT.id&sortUpDown=DESC&currentPage=1 I'm gonna test that tomorrow and see if it fixes my issue. I'll load yours up then too and see if it acts the same way on my HTC that is running 2.3.3 we gotta procure you a android device to test on, if anyone will put it to work testing.... this is not a bad little phone, resolution a bit weak but i've put a few people on them and they have been happy so far. Easy to root it. I hate to send you to Sprawl Mart, but $109 http://www.walmart.com/ip/AT-T-U8652-FUSION-Android-Prepaid-GoPhone-Blue/17812999#Product+Reviews

Weird. I did test it on the emulator, and it worked. Tested it on another device, but not via the Market, and it worked. Have almost 50 installs of it (very limited audience, as you can imagine), and only a single complaint about the maps....which either means nobody cares, or nobody is using that feature yet! Thanks for testing, and for the link. I may implement that "fix" and see what happens. That screen is somewhat of a crucial one in that it gets people to away games. Fortunately, most teams don't have many of those. Thanks for the link to the droid device...I'll check it out! Mark

Hi Mark I've tried it on an HTC Desire running Android 2.2.2 The map comes up ok but I get the same as ASusoeff where it says my device is not reporting its location. GPS is on but I am i the UK so may be why it won't show me directions... Everything esle in the apps seems to work fine

Nice little app. Does exactly what I am hoping my first app will do except for its for a hurling club. Only downside was the more button, which then only had one item in list and rest of screen was blank. Seemed a bit pointless to me. But then I don't know how hard it would be to have that button point to weather and change at a later date if more items are added to the list.

Hi @alifeboy, Welcome to buzztouch! Thanks for checking out the app and providing such good feedback! I have to admit I basically forgot about the More button. That should be linking to weather and stuff, but I got busy. I'll have something for sure in the next release. Our season ended yesterday (more or less), so I plan on making some major changes before Fall Ball starts! Mark
