My app approved but im sad !

Since 7 days i submit my app and today i receive the email that my app is ready for sale ! But im sad and the reason is that missing images from my app. Before i submit it download the code from buzztouch copy all the images on xcode and images folder and test it on simulator all good .The size of the app before i sumbit it was 7 mb and today when i check size of the app on itunes is 3 mb.I should say that all the images in my app have the same size and all are .jpg but 20 of them missing from my app.I check again the folder of the app that i send and the images is here. What i should do now send them email or submit again the app ?

If you refresh the app once it's downloaded from iTunes do the images appear? maybe just a simple fix in your config.txt file? Although that wouldn't explain the smaller app size. Surprised it passed approval process with that many things missing

Hi, First, congratulations on getting your app approved! That's no small feat for sure! I'll say I'm a bit confused here. It seems odd that Apple would approve an app that, when installed and run, has missing images. Have you actually downloaded the app from iTunes and installed it on a real device? Perhaps the images are actually there. If they are indeed missing, I think you have two options : 1. Remove the app from iTunes and prepare a new app, this time with the images 2. Send in an immediate update to the app, which includes the images. Expect to wait another 7ish days for review. Can you send us the app link? Mark

I download it from itunes test it on 3g 3gs and ipad and same problem after refresh the problem remain. The images are all in the folder of the app and in the xcode. But the size of the app on itunes is only 3 mb instead of 7.5 mb.

Well, seems like you need to submit a new package. Since it seems like you have actual devices to test on, I would compile a new package and test it to make sure it's good. Then submit and update. Mark

Are these missing images part of the functioning of the app? If they are it's really weird that Apple would approve it...i use testflightapp.com to upload and test apps..kind simulates distribution...might help find the problem?

It's entirely possible that the code doesn't take into account upper case file extensions! So, if you've verified that .jpg works, I would change everything in your app to that. It always makes sense to go with what you know works. Mark

Did you have to change any actual files? If not, and all you did was make changes to your app via the control panel, then you should be OK, and users should be prompted for an update. If you had to change file extensions, then you'd need to repackage your app and submit it to iTunes like you did before. The only think you need to do on the Xcode side, aside from compiling, is change the version number and build number in your plist file. Then build and submit like you did before. You do need to create a new version of the app in iTunes, but it's pretty self explanatory. Mark

If all you did was change filename references in your buzztouch control panel...and didn't actually change any files that shipped with the app, then users who have downloaded the app will be prompted for a refresh, and all should be well. What's the app name? Perhaps I can install it and see how things look. Mark

The only problem is that first time users won't see the prompt to refresh. Only when opened a second time will they see it...probably best to update the config.txt file and resubmit? In the meantime you can put instructions in the app store description that for now they need to hit the refresh button on initial download.

Hey Ian...I believe new users should be prompted for a refresh as well, provided the config file on the buzztouch server is different than the one the app shipped with. Whenever an app is opened or brought to the foreground, it checks if an update is available...even if it's the first time the app has been used. So, I think he should be good. Mark

HI GNW! I don't believe it prompts the first time user to refresh...this is in part due to the Apple approval process.. Apple doesn't want to see the refresh warning when testing apps for approval. Oops, not sure why the double post?

I could have sworn that it works where, if the bt.com config file differs from the local config file, it would ask for a refresh, even if it's the first time ever that the app has been used. Posed the question to @David...he's going to verify. @mysterysolver - can you post a link to your app so we can check it out, and see how it's looking right now? Mark

I ran into this problem early on with first time refresh issues, I learned the hard way..I have one app that I have to keep updating until I submit an update to apple with new config.txt file for first time users.

Interesting! David is going to check the v1.5 and v2 code and hopefully give us a definitive answer. I know some users have reported submitting an app for approval, then making some changes, and having reviewers state that a refresh was requested. Mark

If it was just file naming that was the problem you could just copy and paste your configuration data to replace the data in the Config.txt file in your Xcode project...downloading the whole project again is fine too but I would still make sure that Configuration data in the Config.txt file shows the very last changes you made so the first time user sees what you expect....let me know if you need me to elaborate or search the forum for Config.txt ... Good luck and have fun!

In your Xcode project find your Config.txt file, Then go to you online buzztouch app control panel and click on Configuration Data, select all the data and copy it Now go back to Xcode and replace (paste) the data in the Config.txt file with the new data you copied from your buzztouch control panel Lots of good info on this in the forum, Advanced Search

Yes the Config.txt data needs to be replaced with the new data from you control panel...make sure any previous builds on simulator or device are deleted then install the app to see if it is trying to refresh the data...if it does not ask to refresh data and your app looks good then you are all set. The BT_Config folder contains the BT_config.txt file

Open up your Xcode project, you will see the list of folders on the left hand side, The BT__Config folder contains the BT_config.txt file. When adding images and docs make sure you add them to Xcode while the project is running...the image and docs folders on the left side Lots of good info in the How To section on this site

When testing in the simulator make sure you delete your app from it first then run your project....this will help you see if your Config.txt is updated and working like you expect

CFBundleVersion is the version in the BT_info.plist file, it probably says 1.0 change it to 1.1 , 1.2 or whatever you like :)
