Blank screen after .mov plays

Hello! We just released a new iPad app, and it looks as if when users click the blue "done" button on the top nav bar after watching a .mov file (hosted on our own server), they arrive at a black screen and not at the previous menu. Is there a way to correct this? Thank you! Link to the app is here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/black-violet/id507943247?mt=8

Same, returns to menu screen, iPad 2, iOS 5.1. Beautifull but the videos load very very slow, so slow that I would normally give up. Ipad is connected wifi on dsl in south of France. (yep we got internet too !)

Thank you so much for testing the app - I appreciate it! Interestingly, I think the problem is intermittent - I tried every chapter, and every once in a while I get the blank screen when clicking "Done." I haven't had issues with any audio so far, but some of them don't have music right at the start - it might begin a few seconds in. That said, they are big video files and require a pretty strong internet connection. In any case, now that I know the issue only happens every once in a while, I'm even less sure what to do to solve it. But thank you for your willingness to test it out and your kind words on the art!

Does the console display any warnings or error messages when you run your app in the simulator or with the device plugged in?

Hi Parker - thanks for your message. I don't get any errors or warnings when running in the simulator. It also passed all checks as it was being prepared for upload to the app store. I also don't run into the blank screen issue on the simulator either, but I know a few users have experienced it on their iPads. Wonder if it's related to the size of the vids? I was trying to avoid having Youtube and Vimeo show up within the app, but that might be the only way to fix things if it's having trouble handling the size. The only way to deal with the blank screen issue is to close and restart the application - it doesn't bring up any navigation after that point. Thanks in advance!

Melissa, you might want to try amazon s3 with cloudfront, just for the videos. It should give you roughly the same performance as vimeo or youtube. It's pretty cheap and you could revert back if over budget.

you probably did it, but if the videos weren't optimized for download, this should help. http://handbrake.fr/
