Apple is testing my patience....

Is it normal for apps to take around 8-12 days to be reviewed? I can remember submitting apps last year and they would be approved in less than 5 days always...Just wondering haha -Jack

I have one waiting for review right now also. It's been like that since last Sunday. Here's a link that gives a good estimate on how long it will take before it gets reviewed. It's calculated by a twitter hashtag: http://reviewtimes.shinydevelopment.com/

It varies so much. Had one approved in one day once. Had one that took 14 days.

When you submit your app does it take a shorter amount of time if it is very simple?

Doesn't appear to have anything to do with the size of your app. And don't take into account weekends..seems like most times they take weekends off. Patience...it'll happen! And, since you may ask in the future, updates to an app do NOT generally take less time...I think they all go into the same review queue. Mark

@GoNorthWest: I've had my app reviewed on both a Saturday and a Sunday. It usually isn't reviewed then, but it has happened. I think Apple has people reviewing on the weekend, but just not as many as during the week.

@shak77 - I've had one reviewed on Saturday as well...but only one out of three. I agree they may have a skeleton staff over the weekend. @AppMaster - Good luck! Mark

10.6: Apple and our customers place a high value on simple, refined, creative, well thought through interfaces. They take more work but are worth it. Apple sets a high bar. If your user interface is complex or less than very good it may be rejected

Had that problem also. If you're using v1.4, you probably need to switch to v1.5.

I think that's such a lame reason if they don't give specifics...like, a particular screen is bad or something. Seems like that's all in subjective and in the eye of the reviewer. I know there are plenty of v1.4 apps out there, so I don't think it likely related to that. Hard to say, though, without seeing some screen shots. Anything we can do, just let us know! Mark

Do your screens have color or do they have the default white screen with black writing?

Can't you send a reply message? You should write them back asking what the exact issue was with your app? I've found the Apple review process to be the #1 most frustrating aspect of making apps. I recently made a whip crack noise making application (not using buzztouch) which was rejected for "not providing lasting entertainment" - the same week at least 5 other whip applications with the exact same functionality were approved...

It is very colorful, but yet looks classy. @Absentia about a year ago i created a fake cracked screen app to the app store, it got rejected but about a week later an app just like it appeared on the app store, so i spent a few weeks arguing with apple and they eventually pulled the other cracked screen app off the store.

If you are okay with sending the Xcode project to me, I could take a look and give you suggestions.
