Another Newbie Starting Questions

Hi App developers! I'm so excited to use Buzztouch, and I heard this forum is very helpful! I can't wait for Buzztouch U to launch so I won't have to ask so many basic questions to you guys. Anyways, my first question: 1. I'm making an app for my school project. It will be a free interactive storybook for children. I'm planning to use Photoshop to create book pages. Do you think this is possible using Buzztouch? I'm guessing I will be using Photoshop created page as a wallpaper/layout and add interactive components to it? Any feedback? 2. So I watched Buzztouch's YouTube videos, but I have some starting up questions. Am I right when I say that in order to start I need to run Eclipse simulator (I don't have Mac :( so no iPhone app) at the same time to continuously see the changes I made in the Buzztouch? 3. What helped you the most when you were making your awesome first app here? Thank you so much!

Welcome, I'm sure many will join in and give you some good advise. All I can say is plan it out well. If I understand you right you plan is to create a picture (lets say a little boy pushing a wagon past a house). And on that picture you plan to click on items on the screen. The boy, the wagon, the door of the house lets say. It's a little advanced to use mapping on the picture ( not impossible) so that behind that image is a clickable button that you can then execute other features(ability to drive them to other screens like video, audio or even a story via html. It all can be done. The buttons by default are set up in Grid/horizontal/vertical layout. So if you plan out the image in your app to how the buttons are put on the screen then you can most likely perform what you want to do with zero coding. else you will need to dig into the Java code and make it do what you want. The other option is Map images that have clickable objects behind the image in some way. I think some people have used the image map approach with clickable objects in apps and you may be able to find that post. As far as eclipse goes yes you would need to install the sdk. After that you are able to use the simulator and later your actual Android device to test. Once again search on the site to find those guides and use Google. Google is your friend.... Take a hard look at v1.5 which hosted by this site and also the self hosted version 2.1 (uses new plugin technology). I'm guessing that v1.5 has the most features working for Android but V2.0 is not that far behind. V2.0 will be supported going forward and v1.5 may just stay as it is. You can bet others will pop in and post thoughts so feel free to compare the ideas and whats best for yourself. Good luck

@Gracefullydone, welcome to Buzztouch. Your choice between BTv1.5 & BTv2.0 will be most important. If you were iOS I could understand choosing BTv1.5. But for Android the gap between BTv1.5 and BTv2.0 is very narrow with BTv2.0 winning on most issues. I strongly discourage new users (especially Android) from using BTv1.5. Most features are better in BTv2.0 and will get better as time goes by. As a new user you'll learn and master BTv2.0 quicker than BTv1.5. In my blog you'll find MySkylla's Guide to Buzztouch www.myskylla.wordpress.com Fred Ps I'll say there's only one or two things you can easily do in BTv1.5 that you can't easily do in BTv2.0. There's lot's you can easily do in BTv2.0 that you can't do in BTv1.5
