Can i allow audio to continue playing when checking Email

Hi All, I have an audio app that uses the custom url plugin to fetch the .mp3 tracks. I did not use the streaming audio plugin because it took to long to load the data. I know in the streaming audio plugin allows you check your email or perform other tasks via other apps while still listening to your music. Can i modify the code to perform this same function using the custom url plugin. This is for IOS v1.5, please reply. Thanks AM

This is a good question. The trouble I think you'll have (but maybe not?) is that the audio functions built into iOS allow you to create and control an "audio session." And audio session is an object you can control with all sorts of options like turn off when headphones plugged in, play in background, etc, etc. I've not experimented with audio sessions connected to an HTML5 "player" in the UIWebView. I'm not sure you can but you may be able too. This post on Stack Overflow suggests you can do this but it will take some tinkering. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7283245/ios-sdk-shared-audio-session-while-playin-background-audio a) Google iOS Audio Session to get an overall understanding of what the heck that is. b) See if you can create an Audio Session then connect it to your UIWebView in the Custom URL screen. Who knows, could work.
