Preview apps

I really looking for a way to preview apps without using xcode. What do you guys think about https://www.pieceable.com/ viewer. I think it should work right?

It still requires Xcode to build your app : https://www.pieceable.com/start Mark

I thought the xcode is just for determining where Xcode will place your compiled .app folder. The question I have - if I download the source code from buzztouch and upload to a webserver, and find out where the .app folder is and use with pieceable. will that work? The only time I will want to use xcode is when I have completed app? I am not sure if what i am saying make sense...

Hi Ade, You have to use Xcode to create your .app file/folder. Buzztouch provides the source code that you compile into your app. Without Xcode, you can't create an app that is viewed either in the Simulator, on Pieceable, or anywhere! Basically...if you want to create an iOs app, you absolutely must use Xcode. Mark

I have seen another company use it successful. I think what they did was upload an app container once. The container can load any app but you will need to enter a unique code or app name to load the app into the container. Like to hear other views...

From their website: <pieceable> 1. Build for the simulator. You're already doing this during normal development - we just need to make note of where Xcode is placing your compiled binary (the .app folder). </pieceable> So, you have to use Xcode to build your project before you can even start to configure Pieceable. If you are trying to get out of using Xcode to build your app, this is not the way (and I don't think there is any way at all). Mark

My issue is not with avoiding xcode for compiling the app when ready to submit to app store. I just want an easy way for testing apps without opening xcode and also been able to present to clients for sales and review presentation.

What am thinking of is an app viewer for all my apps that I will develop for my clients. I hope that is clearer!

Yep, that makes sense, and according to their site, it looks like it should work. Your earlier post made it sound like you wanted to avoid Xcode for making apps, which is of course impossible! Let us know how it works out! Mark

Ok, I have been thinking of a way to do this... I don't know if this will work. Compile a generic app to hook up with pieceable. the generic app will have a custom screen that can allows you to enter the app name, will look in database(applications table) to pull appGuid and apikey. Then overwrite the Dataurl in generic app and force a refresh. I think this will load the new app. A few things I am unsure of 1. how to overwrite dataurl 2. not sure how to develop the custom screen that will have the input field and database query. this is just theory, I am not sure if it will work. I will appreciate feedback
