Control Panel Links

is there limit links available to a regular user I want to make things simple for my non-techie user, where all they do is use "push notification" which says coming soon..., make minor changes to content. I will not want to give them access to configuration data, source code etc I initially thought I could make the change under control panel links...but couldnt find those links under application Any pointer will be appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to prevent access to things like configuration data and source code? Are you planning on compiling each and every app that a user creates for them? And, providing access to the config data prevents them from feeling like they need to re-download the source package all the time, because all they ever really need to do is update their local config file. Just curious! Mark

Yes I was planning to compile every app for the users so they don't need to bother about having a mac or all the other techie stuff

That could eventually be pretty hard to manage, especially if you use different certificates and stuff like that. Keep us up-to-date on how that works out...I'm sure we could all learn something! Mark

You should consider creating apps that link to websites the users can control. Hence they could only change the web content. Fred

@Ade Omo: You can add / remove what links show up in control panels using the Admin > Control Panel links screen. Not sure if you found that? Some of the links in the list are not editable. This is so you don't accidentally lock yourself out of a screen. You can override this behavior by updating your database. Each link is saved in the database. If "isEditable" is set to 0 then you won't see the remove option in the control panel. Change these with an SQL statement as needed.
