Thank You buzzTouch!

I've finally had the second of a pair of apps approved by Apple. They are part of an instant marketing system used to connect merchants and shoppers. The Merchant app used to make offers is located at: http://itunes.apple.com/app/now-hot-merchant/id504717563 The Shopper app used to find the offers is located at: http://itunes.apple.com/app/now-hot-shopper/id504477517 So thank to buzzTouch. I couldn't have done what I did without your product. One other person I need to single out is GoNorthWest. Were it not for his guides on navigation through the XCode and App store jungle and the Eclipse mess, it would not have happened.

That looks impressive CodeBuster! What platform did you use (BT2, Server?). What looks impressive to me is the unique functionality you have included like the GUI location & deals pages. I'm still trying to understand the real scope of BT beyond just the standard pages/ plugins. Would you mind sharing the architecture you used to develop it: what plugin did you use to develop the custom code, does it use a database, or interact with a web database, etc. How feasible would it be to hire a programmer to create such custom functionality. Do they need to know BT or could you just specify the parameters? Thanks for any guidance you could offer.

@McAppy Q. What platform did you use (BT2, Server?). A. It's all v1.5 on the front end using standard 1.5 screens. Q. What plugin did you use to develop the custom code A. No custom plugins. Used Menu List, Custom URL, Location Map, HTML Doc, Share Via eMail, Share Via Text, Settings GPS, and Settings Login Q. does it use a database, or interact with a web database, etc. A. It uses mySQL via PHP on an Apache server to manage data, sometimes via AJAX. It also uses several geodata sources to make the discovery of deals work correctly, one of which is the buzzTouch extraction of longitude and latitude from the phone. The back end also hooks into Authorize.net for credit card processing. Q. How feasible would it be to hire a programmer to create such custom functionality. Do they need to know BT or could you just specify the parameters? Thanks for any guidance you could offer. A. I started with buzzTouch in early January with no prior IOS or Android experience. The entire system was built from a 2 page set of business specs, so I happen to think that anyone with some business savvy who is also familiar with how computers are programmed can produce a nice system in a short period of time. I was surprised myself. To be honest, I think I spent as much time futzing with Certificates and Keys and API Registrations and Code Submissions and Account Applications and Corporate Documents and Credit Checks and Icons and Graphics and all sorts of other things that had to come together as I did on the coding of the front end and back end together. Lots of learning and lots of trial and error went into this one. Same as anyone else trying something new.

Thanks CodeBuster for taking the time to provide your outline. I can relate to all your "futzing" with certificates, keys ,etc.

Wow, that's some pretty cool stuff! If you ever had the time or inclination to write up a tutorial on how you did the Set Location stuff, I'm sure a lot of people would benefit from it. Congratulations! Mark

@GoNorthWest, thanks Mark. As I said in the opening post, if it weren't for the guides you've written those apps wouldn't be there yet. I'll think about the tutorial thing. It's just about latitude and longitude and radii and timezones.

Ah! I totally missed that part in your original post. Thank you very much for the kind words. I'm glad that they were able to help you! I'd be very interested in that tutorial. I have an idea for an app that I want to use something like that in, but have been too busy (writing tutorials!) to do the necessary research. No rush on it, but if you find yourself with spare time... Mark

I too would like to say 'Thank You Buzztouch' - I FINALLY was able to get my app - 'Cleveland Browns Great Years' in a state where it could be validated and submitted to the iTunes app store. I posted in here a few months back about an issue, and took some time off from working on my app. Since then I noticed the various articles on troubleshooting have increased, and I once again picked up where I left off, and finally made it through all the errors I had previously. To my fellow app makers - hang in there if you run into issues with building/submitting your app to the app store. There are tons of good info here alone to guide you through most of the common issues. Stay persistent and you will get to this point that I have reached, now to see whether it is accepted or not. Now to work on some more apps.. Thanks again Buzztouch!

I know, sad what happened to Atari, made me fall in love with the US as a Scottish kid, played a large part in my love affair with the States. Coming back again as cool game Devs now though. Moved onto the 800xl then 520st and even played with Cubase back in the day. Thanks for the memories mate!

I would just like to send a shout-out to buzz touch. As you look through the forum posts, hundreds of people have been able to produce apps. Buzztouch is doing a great job!

Sorry about the lack of updates - iTunes store rejected my app as it had too many rss feeds in it. Still at work on other projects, will keep plugging away...
