USA.gov & Dept. of Commerce App Contest

I wasn't sure where to post this. I just received a notice that USA.gov & the Department of Commerce is having a contest for app developers to develop an app using government datasets. I would love to see a developer from Buzztouch win this. Below is the info I received: +++ The Dept. of Commerce and Business.USA.gov have a new Business Apps Challenge for developers. Here's the details: Create an app that uses government data (at least one Dept. of Commerce data set) to help businesses identify opportunities, grow, enhance productivity and create jobs. Apps judged on use of data set, usability and interface design, relevance and creativity. Winners receive cash prizes. Deadline to submit your app is Monday, April 30, 2012. More information on data sets, rules and judging criteria can be found at the Commerce Business Apps Challenge page. http://docbusinessapps.challenge.gov/ Good luck everyone Tony Coe

Hi Tony, Thanks for posting this! I don't think most people realize the HUGE amount of free data that is available from the government, and the amazing number of apps that could be created around this data. This should give people a great place to start in that. Mark

How would you submit an app? Do you have to publish it first?

Shak77, If you build an Android app you should be able to upload the app file. Once you sign up there is a submission page where you submit your app. Also you can post a question in their forum or email them at [email protected]. Tony
