Plot positions from a GeoRss feed onto a map

Hi Love Buzztouch! One feature i rally need is to be able to use the data from a GepRSS feed to plot positions onto the map plugin. Does anyone know if this is possible? I have some experience using the Google Maps API but doing this seems to be beyond me! Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks Sepala

I think it would be, but would require custom code obviously... I can tell you where I think the code should go, but can't tell you how to do it. (beyond me) I just have been in the map code quite a bit lately, and have decent understanding of how it works, and where it does certain things. Also this if for android, but assume similar code exists for iOS. Look in your BT_sceen_map.java file Find this //parse screenData... Here its going to check out your JSON for that screen, and put into an array called items. It then breaks down items (JSON stuff) in the lines after to the respective nodes for the application later on. Your mission would be to modify this code for it to take your GeoRSS. If this is your only map screen, then you could start by feeding your feed vs JSON stuff, but a ton of modification will probably need to take place to get it everything lined up correct. It will not be a cut and paste type job. If you had multiple map screens, you would have to be on BT 2.0, as you would need to rewrite the plugin screen to have a field for your GeoRSS. If present, you would have the plugin bypass the json parse and move to the GeoRSS parse. Thats all i got, perhaps someone else might be able to assist more. (obviously I could also be way off as well, this is just where I would start to hack around).

Wow! Thanks so much for the advice Zackamo. Sounds quite complicated... I was hoping that there would be a simple solution to this using the Data URL option in the Advanced Map Properties... I will have a look in the BT_screen_map.java file and see how I get on anyway! Thanks again for your help! Anyone else got any suggestions...?

BTW- I have set up my own server to accept images sent by the Image Uploader and this works really nicely. The info on how to do this is really great and it mentions that geoloaction (lat long) info is sent with the images form an iPhone. Is there anyway to get this data and plot it on a map? Thanks!
