Is 2.1 going to require you to rebuild your app?

I started building my app on 1.4. Took me a little bit to figure how to use it and when I did and started to build the app 1.5 came out. I decided to use the new features in 1.5 so I started to build my app there. Then 2.0 came out! If I start rebuilding it in 2.0, and 2.1 comes out, will I have to rebuild the app? If so, I'm probably going to try to finish my 1.5 one and get one on the market and wait for 2.1 to come out before I rebuild and replace. Thanks in advance for the help. -Evan

Hi Even, Welcome to buzztouch! Looking at your registration date - 2/20 - all the versions you mention were around way before then! So, you could have actually started with v1.5 instead of v1.4. BT Server - aka 2.0 - was also available as a download. At the moment, there is no way to migrate your app from one version to another. I think they are working on that, but it's not an imminent release. BT Server is the first version to make extensive use of the plugin concept...meaning you plugin the various features you want to use. This is their path going forward...it will all be plugin based. If you are not interested in hosting your own server, then I would stick with v1.5. It's going to be a while before anything major happens with any of the versions, so I think you'd be safe there for a bit. If and when major changes occur, I'm sure the BT team will provide a way to migrate from one version to the other. For what it's worth, I have apps in all three versions on the market! It was functionality that drove those decisions. Mark

No, that's partly why BTv2.0 was built. We're now on BTv2.1.6 and the apps built in 2.0 work. We commonly refer to BTv2.0 but actually it should be Buzztouch Server Version 2.x or something like that. So as David@Buzztouch said in one post the insanity of v1.4, v1.5, v1.6 has to stop. (parphase but essentially correct). So, an excellent question that helps understand why BTv2.0 is the platform to use and why you should move away from BTv1.4 and Btv1.5. Fred

Sorry I phrased it wrong. When I finally decided to give it a shot, in order to get 1.5 I had to register for early adopter. At that time I didn't know if I could learn it and was just testing the waters, so I stuck with 1.4. Who knew that BT and the user submitted guides made it so non-programmer friendly! I'm not interested in hosting my own server yet, not until I get a better understanding of everything. So I will stay with 1.5 until I get my app up then maybe move on to 2.0 and bigger and better things! Thanks for the response guys!
