Non selectable menu items

I would like to create a menu listing with list items that are NOT selectable. Is this already possible? I could not find it if it is. I know I can eliminate the highlighting of the item when touched, and change the indicator arrow, but I can't seem to make it not navigate anywhere when selected. I just want to make a plain list in the menu... no links. If that makes sense. Thank you!

Having buttons do nothing has been discussed before no solutions yet. Some possibilities: Use an HTML Doc Use an Custom HTML Text doc Use an Background Image to appear as a list Fred

I've linked to a "Streaming Video" that was not loaded into xCode, and it seemed to be a dead button. But Fred is right, sounds like a HTML Doc, or maybe a PDF would work better if you need a list, rather than a List Menu.

Yes, I forget (I still think in BTv1.5 even tho BTv2.0 is the preferred platform now) that Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF are available in BTv2.0 Fred

Hi @BranX26, Welcome to buzztouch! Having a menu list with items that don't go anywhere doesn't make a lot of sense, and I'm pretty sure that your app would get rejected by Apple based on that (assuming you are submitting to them). The Menu List UI was designed to provide a list of resources in the app. Not using it that way probably violates some weird usage guidelines that for UI. Your best bet, if you just want to create a list of things, would be to do an HTML document like @Fred suggests. You could use the UL or OL markup that is pretty standard. I'm sure there also exists some CSS that can be used to mimic the look of the Menu List UI if you are determined to go that way. Mark

Thanks for the replies. I currently have an app in the App Store that does this, several updates over the last three years and no rejections. Thanks though, I will probably go the HTML route.

Hi BranX26, That's actually very interesting feedback...thanks! The way Apple gets so particular I would have bet large sums of money that a menu item that leads to nowhere would get rejected...but I'm glad I was wrong! Sounds like something potentially useful for the general arsenal. Mark
