iPhone that I use for testing locked up

Hello all, I use an old Verizon iPhone 4 for testing. Is has been removed from service for a couple months. I had iOS 6.01 Beta on it. I went to upgrade to ^.1 and the phone is locked up. No matter what I do, I cant get into the phone. Since 6.1 came out, it says that activation is required. It then shows my wifi network and then tries to go out to a server for activation. Then comes back, activation server temporarily unavailable. Now I have a brick. Anyone else having this problem. Any suggestions? Thanks Dave

yes and i tried that also. It says that the software on the phone has expired and must be updated. I hit ok the hit restore and i get "there was a problem downloading the software to the iphone, the requested resource was not found". I try to do it manually and it says that itunes could not restore the iphone because a session could not be started. Im thinking its a new security feature with apple. Thanks for the help

Bummer - I'd search the Apple forums to see if other people have had an issue, and if no luck there, take it to an Apple store. Seems strange that they'd force an old phone to have current service to even work over wifi. But, stranger things have happened.

That happens when the Beta version is disabled and you must use the proper version. Enter Recovery Mode ( http://osxdaily.com/2011/01/08/iphone-recovery-mode/ ) and then use the update available in the Developer Member Center. (Do it manually via iTunes by right clicking the Restore button and select the downloaded file or press Alt+Click). It should work then. Ed
