1st time rejected need help

So i submitted a restaurant app, the app displays its menus, pictures of food, twitter feed, and more. The reason apple reject it is 2.13 which states: "Apps that are primarily marketing materials or advertisements will be rejected" Any advice on how to get this accepted? Thanks

Hi App Master, This is a tough rejection, and one that's sometimes hard to overcome. Basically, there has to be an engaging reason for people to want to use the app...ability to place an order at the restaurant, get driving directions from wherever they are, perhaps a quiz or something. Apple's thinking is that if the app basically does what a web site does, then why have an app? They really want developers to take advantage of iOS features. So, some suggestions: * A map the provides driving directions from the user's current location * Call Us feature so people can automatically dial the place * Perhaps a quiz that tests knowledge of the area or food type * Online ordering or reservations? Just some thoughts! Mark

Ah, the old 'marketing materials' rejection. Spent a week doing my first app and got that and emailed David saying I was giving up. He sent me a sweet email that kept me going and here I am 18 months later replying to you. Few questions. 1. What category did you submit to? I see Apple have added a new 'Catalogs' section in iTunes, maybe that will cover your app. 2. Sounds like your app doesn't offer any user interaction, native iOS features and so on. People will kick me for saying this but try adding a food quiz, Push Notifications for Menu specials, ability for users to upload pics of their favourite dishes and so on. Feel your pain mate, first one I got knocked me down. Adopt, adapt and improve. Yir pal MacApple, who thinks you'll get there soon.

I have added lot of features like maps, special menus, call us, email us, photo gallery, and more. The think that makes me laugh is that this is the 3rd restaurant app that has been submitted, but all of the other restaurant apps have been approved and they have the same features just different pictures and a different menu. Thanks, Jack

It's like MacApple and I have a psychic connection or something! That cracks me up that it's the same app as two previously approved ones. I guess different reviewers have different thoughts. You could appeal and point to the other two, I guess. Mark

I echo the above, bizarre. Sometimes Apple get a bit peeved when you submit similar apps. No way to predict what they'll say no to sometimes.
