Yellow pages Api

Ok, so I'm new at this and way over my head but so far I'm doing ok. Now I have a problem.....I want to use the yellow pages (www.yellowpages.ca) in my app and when I put in the mobile url (http://mobile.yp.ca/business) it works !! Here is where it gets interesting; I want to do two things: 1) I want to default the city it searchs 2) When I go to directions I want it to know where I am using the phones GPS I when to the Yellow Pages web site and downloaded the API and got a Key, is that going to help me? If so how.....I don't even know how to add the API to the project (I'm using Eclipse)!! Explain it to me like you would your dad who just learned how to use email....lol

Bassically all API's and keys work the same. Go to my Google Map API & key guide and you'll have a step by step understanding on how the process works. www.myskylla.wordpress.com Fred

Fred Thanks for that but I already had the Google maps and keys done.....most of that was already coded into the basic files. I just had to edit them. The question is how do I add any other plug in? I downloaded a couple from the Buzztouch website and can't import them into my project? How do you do that ? I know I'm missing something but what ? All your help is appreciated Thanks Randy

Randy, You do know that the plugins you downloaded from buzztouch.com are for the BT server product, right? Those plugins are already part of the 2.0, 1.5 and 1.4 buzztouch.com hosted applications. Other code, frameworks, etc. will have to be added into your app in/via eclipse. What you are trying to do may be as simple as looking at the data you can pass to a URL. For example, this in a custom url screen: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=animal hospital&hl=en&sll=[deviceLatitude],[deviceLongitude] (Animal Hospitals Location)&iwloc=A&hl=en will open up google maps and pass the device's lat/long while requesting that google search for nearby animal hospitals.

[deviceLatitude],[deviceLongitude] are among the pieces of info you can pass out of your app to webpages, etc.

Thanks for the info....I did not know those plugins were for the BT server. As far as the url goes, I've tried that, unless I specify both what I'm looking for and where you get an error? Going through the yellow pages native url I can't get it to recognize the phones location but it works if I am using Google Maps? If I could solve those 2 problems I would be golden ! Try testing it...start a new project in android adding the url "http://mobile.yp.ca/business" then run the app on your phone or emulator and you will see when you are for driving directions it asks you for an address instead of using the phone location? It has the ability to do that I just don't know how to make it work ? I'm really stuck ...help !! Randy
