Configuration data for this application is invalid

Hi The IOS Simulator 5.1 is always giving me the error (Configuration data for this application is invalid). I already checked the configuration data file in http://jsonlint.com/ and it is validated. So I am not sure what the exact issue is. Any clues is very highly appreciated. Thanks very much! Samira

Hi @Samira, What sort of screen are you trying to load? Do you have similar screens that are working in your app? Mark

Hi Mark, I am just testing if the app works on the built in simulator iPhone 5.1 simulator and iPad 5.1 simulator and I am getting the same message for both. This used to work fine when I had xcode 4.2 but now it doesn't. I am not sure whether I should go back to xcode 4.2? Thanks! Samira

Hi Samira, I don't think it has anything to do with the particular version of Xcode. What target OS are you using for your app? I use iOS 3 as the target (that allows users from iOS3 - iOS5) and don't experience any problems. Perhaps it's related to that? Mark

Oh great! I think it is better to use IOS3 (I don't have a specific OS target). I will download this now and let you know if it works. Thanks ever so much for the suggestion :-)! Samira

Hi Samira, It should already be included in your iOS 5 SDK. Just look in the build settings for your project, and where it talks about Target iOS, pick iOS3 from the list! Mark

Sorry Mark but iOS3 is not in the list? Build settings > Architectures > Base SDK (there is only one option iOS 5.1 or Mac OS X 10.7)?

Click on the Target, then do Build Settings > Deployment > iOS Deployment Target. Mark

Not a problem! I would try this: In your control panel, find the Show Configuration Data section. Copy all that information, open up your local config file (config.txt or BT_Config.txt depending on what version of BT), and paste that information in. Now your config data is consistent with what is on the BT server. Save the file. Do a Product...Clean, and then build again and see what happens. Mark

I tried all that and I am still getting the same thing :-/. Do you think uninstalling xcode and installing it again might help? Thanks Mark!

Samira, You could try this, it's worked for me: Close xcode, then in finder, locate your .xcodeproj file, right click or ctrl-click and select examine contents. Look in the folder xcuserdata and delete the contents. Then re-open your project in xcode, you should mow find all iOS variants available Hope that help John

Thanks very much John. I just tried that and it didn't work for me at first, but then strangely enough I downloaded a fresh copy of my project for the 9th time today from buzztouch and it finally worked! Maybe deleting the file was the fix but it need to be followed by downloading a fresh copy?! Thanks ever so much both John and Mark! Best wishes, Samira

Hi Samira, Glad you got it worked out! Sometimes a new download does take care of things, but you should really only have to do that once, and then just refresh your config file. Anyway...way to stick with it! Let us know if there are any other issues. Mark
