Newbie way of uploading photos

I thought I would put in this "how to" given the trouble I had doing what is likely a simple task. In BT v 1.4 there was a way to upload one photo at a time. That was not included in 1.5 for very good reasons, but I still needed to figure out how to do this simple task. So here is the way I was able to do something similar. Sign up for drop box if you want your photos downloaded from the internet. This is the way I ended up going in the end after several other trial and error situations. Once you've done this it becomes really simple to change pictures without having your device connected to your computer. You simply load whatever photos you want on your device into your public folder on drop box on your computer. Then right click the file name and choose drop box->copy public link. Then paste this file name into the URL file name for your photo. The other benefit of this method is it keeps the size of the app down because high quality photos aren't stored in the app upon publication but stored in the cache once you connect to the internet. If you would prefer to have your app completely self sufficient upon publication and not need to fetch data then you can load the files directly under Eclipse. It is important to note the files CANNOT have capitals or spaces. This is key because Eclipse will not load these photos. Ideally you will have a folder on your computer with all of the photos so you can drag them into the folder assets>BT_Images. As far as what screens to use, on Android you can use a Menu List, set the image as the background, and select the option for full screen, preserve ratio. This is nice because you don't have to worry about creating the perfect sized pixel photo. If you'd prefer to click the picture to bring up another screen, set the image as the header on a Menu List. Now you do need to know the size you want the image because under Header Image Layout you will have to input the size you want the image to be which can be difficult with Android devices given the range of screen sizes. You can then choose Header Image Tap and select which screen to load when the image is checked. For iOS, the clickable option still works as above. If you don't want a clickable picture then instead of using Menu-List, use Menu-Buttons. For some reason if you choose Menu-List the list icons appear even if you left it blank. When I chose Menu-Buttons that did not happen so the only thing that appeared was the background image. Hope this helps anyone out there who was having similar problems trying to figure out pictures.

Thanks for you contribution, additional info can be found in MySkylla's Guide to Buzztouch. www.myskylla.wordpress.com I'm able to use uppercase letters in BTv1.5 but strongly recommend against it since you'll have to rename those files if you wish to use them in BTv2.0 (been there done that). In V2 I see that you can now upload images to Buzztouch. Does this mean that the images download into the correct folders with the source code when you download this and compile or do you still need to add them manually in Xcode/ Eclipse?

You need to add to source code. By uploading you don't have to enter image name into use image box. So, no you're not uploading the image to the server, you're uploading the image info to the control panel. Fred
