Google Play? Refunds!

I have published my Latin To Go app on google play here- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.v1_4.BF1B526CA1E0BE9C05C84F46.com&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS52MV80LkJGMUI1MjZDQTFFMEJFOUMwNUM4NEY0Ni5jb20iXQ.. I have noticed that users buy my app...then just simply get a refund! Do I get paid still? I hate the concept...refunding! Any Ideas on what should I Do?

There are alot of sites telling people to download a paid app to try it out and how to refund if they don't like it. I imagine if an app looks really cluttered or non professional someone would refund. I also guess that some people are downloading to see if it is in their language. Make sure you capture the customers attention right off the bat, when they open the app for the first time, splash screen, good color theme etc. If there are 10,000 buzztouch apps out there where the initial screen is a black simple menu, they will all start looking drab. Getting some uniqueness may help to keep a customer from refunding. Sometimes the most exciting thing about some peoples apps are their phone icons. Not to say your app isnt a great learning tool, I am sure it is, but what sets it apart from the next competitor, enough for someone to cough up a dollar. On a side note, It amazes me the trouble people go through to refund one dollar. Keep up the good work, when you get into 2.0 you can do alot with the color schemes.

I should have looked at your other apps, you have the concept of color and good looks down! Your other 2 apps look very very nice. So only suggestion is make the android apps look as good as your iOS apps. I get a good number of refunds on my Learn HVAC app, around 5%. Maybe it is the nature of the Android customer.

Thank you, it is probably the greater percentage of cheap people on android then iOS. How do I add a splash screen to android app? I am NEW to eclipse and would like to know the MUST HAVE Features to the app. Do you mind sharing?

The splash screen is a plug in in 2.0 I haven't used 1.5 much but I think it is a page option. It is nice that when you click on your icon, a full screen picture of whatever comes up. You can also set background images in your pages. I have an old parchment paper look on one of my apps with writing on top, looks nice and clean. You link to the pictures off a website or you can insert them into your code before compiling.

If your app is BTv1.5 don't use a Splash Screen (bug). Go to my blog for details. Www.myskylla.wordpress.com As for Android users being cheap the data shows that Android users pay more for apps, the more expensive apps are on Android and that the highest priced apps are Android. Apple doesn't allow refunds, Android Market does. Fred

I don't think "cheap people" is the correct way to word it. Money conscious and/or limited income or ... a lot of other ways than to call people (like me) "cheap", respect is the key. I do not like apple (their methods, or proprietary, or closed-loop ways) with a passion, but do not call their customers names. To me Apple and Microsoft are both the the same, they have the LUST for more money. Lust for money = greed. I have no problem paying for something, but am not going to pay "any amount", just to get a "name brand", it has to do what I want it to, no matter who makes it. BUT on topic : I can see the purpose for a refund. If it does not do what I want, why should I pay for it. Like having to purchase every car you test drive before deciding on the one you want. On the other side of it, I have purchased bigger ticket priced apps, and have kept them, but also have returned ones that were charging more than the app was worth (too simple and too high of a price). It all depends on what it is and if it does what I want it to do. I would presume or hope that Apple gives the capability to get a refund for an app that is not what you thought it was, due to wording confusion, or whatever. No disrespect intended to anyone

I just want to say thanks to all those cheapskate Android users out there who out-buy my apps vs. their iOS counterparts 2:1. Lol.

WolfTimJ, is iOS that good? I have just been plinking around with Android and have been making some $, I have an apple developer account but have not submitted anything yet. I make some custom apps for iPad for some customers, just haven't been in the apple store yet.

It's ok. What I said was that I sell 2 Android Apps for every 1 iOS app. Every app I make is posted on both stores. Depends largely on geography I think. Some areas of the country seem to favor Apple, some iOS. This seems to be changing slowly though as AT&T no longer has the Apple cornered.

I meant some favor Android, some iOS. Too much blood in my caffeine system.
