Auto-hyphenation not working

Dear All, I've got lots of Word documents, which look fine in Word with auto-hyphenation. However, in my app all the auto-hyphenation is lost!! I've tried docx, but same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Dan

Good evening, I know that there have been several problems with Word Documents, so I will try and answer you efficiently. IF you have Word errors, the only fixes I can imagine are the following: 1° If you are in v.2.0, it is possible that the template is not entirely functional. 2° Else, if you have copied from your Word Document to a Plain Text, it will not work 3° If you are using Word Doc Template in Buzztouch, maybe the request is too advanced ? I know that the Buzztouch HTML Doc is not compatible with all code (for ex: text-shadow does not work)

Thank you Both, I was using BT 1.5 with Word doc template. I shall try BT 2.0 - maybe that will work? Best regards, Dan

You could.. However, I am not convinced that is the best method. I have never tried auto-hyphenation, but if it is really important in your text, do it manually, it will save you more time than making a new app. Good Luck !

Yes, manual works but strangely, there seem to be more characters displayed per line on my iPhone than in the word file, so I end up with hyphens in the middle of the line. I have lots of content - about 400 pages, so manually hyphenating would be painful, even if it worked... :( I'm still hoping BT2.0 may solve my problems...

It's an antibiotic guide book for doctors in my hospital :) I hope it will just be in the region of 5MB. Best wishes, Dan

Will it work in HTML, (I don't know), but it's relatively easy to convert docs to HTML. Fred

Thank you all for your suggestions. Sadly, it doesn't work. When I convert .doc to HTML, the hyphenation disappears. :( Also, it doesn't matter whether you use BT 1.4 or 1.5 or 2.0. Cheers, Dan

Hi Fred, Thanks for the link but I'm still a bit puzzled as to how I will have to go about it. I've checked lots of commercial applications to see how well hyphenation is implemented and it appears that none of them have it. With your link to soft hyphenation in html5, what would I have to do? Manually insert those few characters between syllables? Best wishes, Dan

Yes, in my wordpress blog when you edit you can see the html. At first it's difficult to read because of the unusual characters and you have to imagine the layout but then it becomes easier. In Buzztouch go to the Custom HTML Text editor and switch to Source view and you'll see how it's done. Any HTML editor can do the same. Fred
