can we change the package name v1_4#########.com

I have downloaded the code and notice that the Project package name is an undecipherable string of numerical values. Can we change this to something more in line with our developer name or is it required to be listed that way in order for the server to communicate with the app? (I.e. com.mydevelopername.android) Thanks, Todd

Todd, Yes, you can change it. You will need to change the name of it in every instance its called on in the code, manifest, and in the SRC folder. You can try a search/replace of package name. Andy

With v1.4 changing the name has never worked, from what I have read. v1.5 you could and v2.0 you could.

That couldn't be more wrong. I have done it multiple times and never had problems. You can change it in eclipse, but you need to change all instances.

Andy, Thanks for the confirmation. I'll just use the Refactor on the package and update all instances. I took a look at the app done by Ninkasi Brewery and their package name was updated and they are currently using v1.4 so we have a double confirmation. Maybe their server only requires the "app_name" string in order for the communication to take place. I'm sure i'll discover as I begin to check this out more. Cheers, Todd

UPDATE! Yes, it looks as though you can modify the Package name and all instances of it in code... just don't touch the "config.txt" as it appears the "appGuid" variable is what is required to communicate with the BuzzTouch servers.

This is most interesting as from what I've seen the ability to change a BTv1.4 app has been that it's not possible. Please advise how this was done. I tried using the Android Tools and the result was just errors. Fred
