Splash Screen-iPhone

I'm having a problem where I have one splash screen display then change to another splash screen on the iPhone.I did some switching around between images, so the one I wanted to get rid of displays right before the correct splash screen. The default*.png file is the same as the one on buzztouch splash screen. It works just fine on the iPad.

If you put your splash screens on a web server or photo gallery website, and give them seperate names, it should work. Make sure that you put in the Splash Screen Settings " Small Device Splash Screen = www.photogallery.com/dana-t/iphonespash " and " Large Device Splash Screen = www.photogallery.com/dana-t/ipadsplash " so they point to different screens. If you have any more trouble, message me and I will assist as much as I can as I have been through this and know how frustrating it is.

Edward, thanks for your reply. The splash screens are embedded, not on a web server. On the buzztouch control panel, I do have the small screen splash pointing to default*.png ...I'll keep fiddling around with it. I also made sure to delete the old png file from my BTimages just in case. Thanks, Dana

Hi Dana, I use the Default*.png files as my splash screens, without actually creating a splash screen "screen" in buzztouch. The Default*.png images are the first thing that gets launched when an app starts, so they make a natural splash screen. There are sizes for both iPhone and iPad, so you just replace the ones provided by buzztouch with the ones you want, keeping the default names, and you're good to go! No need to actually use the buzztouch splash screen functionality. Mark

Ok, can I still get the "curl" effect? If not, no biggie. It's worth losing that and having a working splash screen. Thanks, Dana

Unfortunately no curl effect. Just the image. But if you look at all the major apps out there, that's pretty much the way they do it as well. Mark

Ok, that works! Is there any way to change the duration? It seems to be too quick.

Weird that my last post came across as anonymous! So, no curl effect, but I think that's a good thing. Have you tried it out on a real device yet? The duration seems appropriate to me. I'm sure there is a way to adjust it, but how long would you want it to be? Too long and people will wonder if the app is hung! Mark

True...No, I'm only using a simulator at the moment...I'm going to test it on a real device as soon as I get the activation code for dev program through apple. I'm guessing it's an appropriate duration. Thanks a bunch! Dana

The reason Apple gives for providing the Default*.png image is that they want developers to provide an image that it sort of a skeleton of what the app will look like, in order to give the illusion that the app is initializing. But what I've found, and what I do as well, is that most people just use this as a splash screen. Mark

Yeah, that makes perfect sense.
