Still getting an error for Single Location even with my google maps API

So I followed all the instructions for getting my Google Maps API and I put the Key into where it's supposed to be on the app. I'm still getting the following error when i leave the maps and go back into the app: Maps not configured properly See: showLocationMap() method in src/ Act_ActivityBase.java Also, within the maps in the app, the only thing that pops up is the point marker, there is no titled displayed, and there is no address displayed. Any and all help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It appears you don't have the Google Maps API properly intergated into your Source Code. I have a how to for BTv1.5 in my guide. Www.myskylla.wordpress.com Fred

Hi MM2000, You have to create two keys, one for debug, and one for release. You do that by using both the debug.keystore and release.keystore. Here's a step-by-step, illustrated guide I wrote on getting the Google Maps API key : http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Obtaining_a_Google_Maps_API_Key_v1.0.pdf Also make sure you uncomment the part in your AndroidManifest.xml file that deals with maps. Look in the Readme file that came with the package you downloaded for all the info you need. Mark

When you get your Google Maps API key you'll get what you ask for. Ask for Debug you get Debug. Ask for release you get release. Your debug key will only work in the simulator. The published app needs a release key. Fred

The debug Google Maps API key also works in an app compiled with a debug signing key, and run on an actual device. That is how I test my apps before I sign them with a production key and distribute them officially. The XML file in the source code allows you to specify both. Mark

Mark, a question or two about your use of the debug key. Are you using the debug signing key on an exported .apk that you install to an actual device not connected to a computer? If so what if any limitationshave you experienced? Fred

Hi Fred, Yep...using debug key on that OVFPS app I had you check out! No issues doing that at all, as long as the person allows non Market apps on their device. Mark

Re map not showing users location,in version 1.5 and 2.00. The map locations show OK but there is no pin displayed for the users location. The settings are correct in the back end. In version 2.0 if you tap the location and request driving directions "your device does not appear to be reporting it's location" comes up. any ideas?

Hi Electro, Are you using the Android Emulator? If so, it doesn't do geolocation, so it won't be able to report a location. Mark
