Yes. One app in Control Panel for both, made it work as I needed to satisfy BlackBerry, downloaded source, used Eclipse with the BlackBerry Eclipse Plugin. Fiddled with the code and files and the needed settings for export to separate from android. Then off they went. Approved within 2 weeks, but no issues reported back to me, just a bit of time. Have since then split the app into 2 in the Control Panel, one for Android one for BlackBerry. Will update BlackBerry with the new eclipse export so that it has its own source in the end. Used the same source/export at first for 100% identical looks and actions for ease of development at this point. EDIT : (@GoNorthWest below) Sorry forgot that part, yes a very important part.

holy cow. no interest in a Blackberry Version- but if this claim is true, i'll throw a version out there. Still a ton of my users with Blackberry devices. Thanks Mark! >>>A simple web interface that allows you to verify, repackage, and sign your app without any additional software downloads. Point the tool to the Android .apk file and the Android SDK on your computer, and the tool will do the rest, with just few mouse clicks from you. Get started with the Online Packager for Android Apps.

Hi ATRAIN53, Well, it's not quite as easy as just packaging up and submitting. You have to remove anything that references Android to the user. You also have to remove anything that utilizes maps, since that's not supported yet. And, there may be more issues, but you have the opportunity to run it through a configuration checker to see the status. Then there are a few new graphics you will have to produce. And you have to get Blackberry signing keys. So, it's a bit of a pain in the butt, but maybe worth it? The only reason I did it was to try and score one of the free PlayBook's! Mark

So are Android apps Java? (If they run in the Java VM, then this would explain that the code seems to be cross compatible)

It would appear so. You can create an Android app...strip out the features that are not currently supported on Blackberry (the package validator will tell you which ones), and then package it up, sign and submit. So since Android apps are Java based, then I think it's a safe assumption that Blackberry ones are as well. Mark

@FREESCOsoft - Did you get one of the free PlayBooks, or did they just approve the app, as they did for me, and know you're waiting for further review? Mark

I have not, but have my fingers crossed. I did get the "accepted for review" before the deadline, but just got the "reviewed and accepted" email yesterday. From what I have read, the Playbook giveaway would be in a separate email, so waiting like you. As a side note, they have extended the giveaway till the 15th (further researching and reading, it *MAY* still be open till the end of the month, just extended as they want. AND yes, there is a lot more that has to be done than what I have said here, I was just giving the basics in this "thank you" post. UPDATE : We’re pleased to inform you that your app submission qualifies for the free BlackBerry PlayBook tablet offer. In case any one is wondering, about 2 weeks initial review, about 2 days second review. Very simple app, no images, no bling bling.

Hey, great work. Why don't you go to your account and post your published apps there. Great way to share with other users.

@Stephen Thanks. Yep, plan on it. I have made a list of what is needed, and will be getting the list filled out, so I can add both apps. I just need to finish the honey-do list and my own list of need-to-do's. Hope to get to the play stuff later today.
